Chapter 7- Live Singing

~Emily's POV

It was finally the Tuesday before Scotty and I leave for Milwaukee! The days before dragged on because you just get so excited that the time seems to take longer. The only thing is that neither of us even started packing yet. It was definitely first priority. We have planned to leave at 10am so that way there shouldn't be too much traffic. Hopefully. Due to it being a 14 hour drive we said that we would each drive half, if Scotty will let me drive his truck. Then we have a hotel room booked from Thursday to Sunday morning, and we'll have Thursday and Friday to go sight seeing. I think it'll be the first time I can actually be happy, and get out and do something. 

~Scotty's POV

Later that night after school we both started packing and put our suitcases in my backseat. I just had to text my momma to make sure it was still okay to go, you know being 16 and all. She said yes as long as we kept a charged phone and switched back and forth often, no driving while tired. "Tired driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving." She told us. Honestly I wasn't too nervous either, I think it might sink in a bit later. I had fallen asleep in the spare room watching some audition videos from past seasons, and I think Emily passed out a while before I did. 

9am came rolling around pretty fast. We decided to get on the road and stop for breakfast/lunch a little farther North. We let our parents know that we were leaving and headed out. I drove first, Emily as navigator. I found this little breakfast dinner just outside of North Carolina and we stopped there. 

"Ah I'm soo hungry, I could eat a stack of pancakes and an omelette by myself."

"Oh I know right." She said and I could tell she was trying not to laugh. So I made a silly face and got her to crack up. We had been sitting across from each other and just talked about the rest of the trip, trying to plan our route. When an older lady came by our table and said that shes never seen love like ours before and also to hold onto it, never let that go. "Wait a minute you two look pretty young, aren't y'all still in school?"

"No ma'am we are traveling up to Milwaukee and I'm going to audition for American Idol." This turned a few heads when I said that, and she just stood there in awe. 

"Would you mind just signing something for me.?" She asked.

"I don't think...." I was interrupted by a few people at the breakfast bar with a few saying aww com'on! "Alright, any requests?"

A little girl spoke up from a few booths over, "Could you sing Days go By from Keith Urban?" 

"Yeah hun I love that song." What I hadn't noticed was the fact that there was a news team filming from the doorway, as I started with the chorus;

"Days go by

I can feel 'em flying

Like a hand out the window in the wind as the cars go by

It's all we've been given

So you better start livin' right now

'Cause days go by"

Maybe by like the third line people were clapping to the beat so I kept going until the end of the song. When the TV that was showing the news went live saying "Potential American Idol hopeful erupts a local dinner into chorus." Just when I had finished singing their camera and anchor wanted to ask me some questions. All saying how great of a singer I am!! The whole time I was thinking this is crazy. Before we left a good majority of the people in the diner said they wish me luck and that they would be voting for me! Damn!

~Emily's POV 

"Ohmygosh that was crazy!"

"Wow I know right." Scotty said. "Well now that just helped take some of the nerves off." 

We got back out to his truck and he handed me the keys and I'm pretty sure my eyes lit up. He smiled and jumped in shotgun becoming the navigator for a little while. All during my driving shift I couldn't stop thinking about the old lady at the dinner, 'I've never seen a love like yours, hold onto it.' Whatever that meant, did she see us as couple or something.? Then just the whole scene in the diner and Scotty being on Live TV! I just hope he wouldn't disappear into the spotlight or become all stuck up....

A.N. Just a filler for today because Scotty is on GAC tonight for a Christmas special in like 5 minutes!!!!! Hah I know I'm obsessed :/ I apologize. 

New chapter tomorrow I promise...
