~Scotty’s POV
As I had started answering some of the questions, it was getting late and time to get back in town for the show. The stable owner realized this and took a horse out of the stall and used her to get the camera men to back up, long enough for us to dash to the truck. We thanked him for everything, and he said it wasn’t a problem and that he would love to see us come back again, before going home. As we were driving back neither of said anything. Back in Milwaukee there was a lot of traffic due to all the fans hoping to get autographs. I called my mentor and he had us come in the back door. We cheated the system.
I got ready for the show and Emily sat up front, like last time. The ‘Boys’ category went third out of the four, and I was up second to fight for a chair. Brooke had made it in her category, but not by much. I sang “Somebody’s Heartbreak,” By Hunter Hayes, and nailed it once again. I got the second chair of the night, in my category. Just because I had a chair didn’t mean I was safe. At any moment I could still be eliminated to make room for a different act. After the rest of the boys performed I was still safe, thank goodness.
~Emily’s POV
When Scotty was safe that night it just took a whole load of stress off of me. Even though now he will just be more popular in the media. Who cares? It’s actually kind of fun trying to avoid them. Scotty and the rest of the performers now have a security guard, to stop this from happening.
That night we drove back to the hotel and as usual the camera guys were waiting for us in the lobby, well waiting for Scotty. All I heard were a ton of congratulations and stuff like that. We navigated maybe half way through the sea of cameras and Scotty stopped and said “Thank you for all of the support, but we’re kind of tired, so if you don’t mind can we get to our room please.” They actually parted and got out of the way.
“I think it’s time to check into a different hotel, this is crazy and exhausting.” Scotty said once we were finally safely inside.
“I can agree with that, and they aren’t even focused on me,” which got him to laugh a little. So we decided to call around and see what other places had for availability. No openings whatsoever, damn. That’s alright if Scotty makes it through next week the show moves into Hollywood. Hopefully they will let me fly out with them instead of making me drive or get a separate flight.
I had asked Scotty’s mentor about it and he said that every performer gets one guest, and they are bringing a car carrier so no one has to abandon their vehicles. They think of everything. Of course Scotty made it through the next elimination round so we were off the Hollywood. That night we packed everything and drove the truck back to where the car carrier was departing from. Then our security guard drove us back to the hotel for one last night. We were to leave at 8am for airport, due the flight leaving at 9am. No problem there. We called our parents before going to sleep.
~Phone’s ringing;
“Hey sweethearts I heard you guys are going to Hollywood!” My mom said, while on speaker phone. We both laughed at her enthusiasm.
“Yeah we are leaving at 8 tomorrow morning.”
“We?”
“Yeah Scotty is allowed one guest, so I don’t have to worry about getting my own ticket.” I told her.
“That’s great honey, but when are we going to get to see you?”
“Soon I promise, the show ends in about four weeks.”
“Four weeks!” My mom was surprised, not angry, yet.
“Yeah..”
“Have you two been keeping up on school work?”
“Of course, we work on it every other night.”
“Okay” she sighed, “Just call me when you guys get to California.”
“Alrighty, goodnight mom and dad.”
“Goodnight to the both of you too.”
~Phone call ends.
That night we slept together again. I fell asleep instantly I think Scotty did too, which was good because tomorrow was going to be a really busy day.
