Chapter 54: The old house

HEYYY!!! Okay so not trying to confuse everyone but my friend who is based on Nicole wanted me to change the name of the guy that likes her so....it's now Marshall and I went back and changed it if you want to check but just telling you!!!

Gracie POV

"Gracie, your dad's here" Macie says "Okay I'll have dad bring me back here?" I ask "Well we have all of your stuff out so I think I'm just gonna head home" Macie says "Oh okay" I say "And I'm just gonna go ahead and take Rose on home" Liam says "Well I'll have dad take me back here so I can get my truck" I say "Sounds like a plan!" Liam says and Macie gives me a hug "Text me or call me when your done okay?" Macie says "Alright I will" I say and Liam kisses me real quick "Stay safe" He says "I'll walk out with you?" Macie asks so me and her walk out and she walks to her car and gives me a thumbs up and I get into my dad's car

"Hey Gracie! You ready?" He asks starting the car "I guess..." I trail off

He turns on the radio and its just awkward silence for a while, our old house is pretty far away

"So how's Liam? Is he good? Treating you right?" He asks "Oh yeah, we got in an argument but...we worked it out. I honestly thought we were over but I had to try you know? I kinda need him in my life" I say "Well I noticed the ring, you ain't engaged are ya?" He asks "Oh! Oh no it's-it's a promise ring" I say and fiddle with my ring and start smiling "He's really important to ya ain't he?" He asks "Yeah, very" I say still smiling at the ring "You guys are careful right?" He asks "Dad!" I yell "Well just makin' sure sweetie" He says

A little while longer I start to recognize things so I know we're close "Dad, I'm nervous" I say honestly "Don't be" He says

I'm just scared of seeing how it is,all the memories, I'm also scared of what dads gonna do, I hate saying this but I don't fully trust him, I know he's trying but...can't be fully sure you know?

"Honey!" Dad yells "Hmm?" I ask "I've been yelling at you for a while! We're here!" He says and I look up from my feet which I was staring at while daydreaming and I see our old house and I take a deep breathe

"Ready?" My dad asks

"Ready"

We get out of the car and walk up the cracked side walk with blades of grass growing up from not being mowed, the few wooden steps leading up to the front porch are warped with nails popping out making creaking sounds, we stand on the front porch and the screen door is pretty much the same, ripped sections everywhere, half off its hinges from all the times of slamming and throwing stuff at it, mainly from dad

"Let's go" He says opening the door and we step inside

The stench of liquor is still here, probably for a long time unless it gets a long good clean, it brings shivers down my spine, the smell itself brings back tons of memories

The living room

The old faded blue couch where I was shoved into so many times, and the tv which has plenty of cracks to where we couldn't even tell what we were watching anymore from dad throwing things at it

I decide to leave dad be cause he sits down on the couch and just looks around and I head up the stairs

The first door is my room

I slowly walk in and my bed lays there with the same old quilt that my nanna made for me

I walk over and sit down on my bed and look over my room and pick up a picture laying on my night stand

It's of me mom and dad , I looked 6 or something it was cute, there was a few cracks in it

I remember getting mad at dad or whenever mom started loosing her mind I'd realise that that picture was fake, we weren't a real family, at least not anymore, I'd throw the picture, but it seemed liked it'd never fully break, just crack, like our family now, moms gone but that doesn't mean were broken, we're still a family, we may not be able to be they way we were cause were cracked, but not fully broken, but the cracks can probably never be fixed, it'd take alot but I don't think it's possible, it's to late to be fixed now, but we aren't broken, I refuse to believe we're a broken family
