Chapter 20
*Alyssa's POV*
I watched everyone's expressions at the new information and saw them staring at me with a look of respect.
"Thank you, thank you. I know. It's not every day you see someone as powerful as me around."
Jack cracked a smile. "Never thought you'd be one to protect people."
"It started a long time ago when I jumped into the water to save you. Since then, I've protected you from a lot of things."
"Like what?" He scoffed, and both of us forgot about everyone that was surrounding us.
"Two hundred years ago when I first had a vision, I saw Jamie seeing you. He spoke to you and hugged you. You wanted so badly to have people see you, I thought I'd hit my head and hallucinated. Even so, you'd have been desperate to find him and make him see you."
He didn't say anything.
"Don't forget the countless times I've kept you and Bunny from killing each other. And when I help you keep them from getting angry at you? What about--"
"Okay, okay, I get it." He covered his ears, not wanting to hear anymore.
"Good. Now, Pitch, I give you ten seconds to surrender or I'll make you."
He sneered at me. "Why would I surrender to you? You cannot hurt me."
"Correction. You can't hurt me, remember?" I narrowed my eyes and moved closer to him. Ice rose from nowhere and became water as it swirled around my head. "Water is soft, if anything it heals, not hurts. Ice is its sister, but it is cold. It hurts and kills, but appears gentle as it does. Would you like to be killed by ice again, Pitch?"
"I will come back. And I will kill everyone you care about." He said, getting in my face.
I shot back, "I have no fear. So I wish you luck on defeating me."
He sank away, only to return once he was ready. I knew what that meant. He would never be ready to fight me. Not when I had everyone around me as they were.
Sami touched my arm to catch my attention, and it was then that I realized that my skin was still glowing blue. "Wait!" I shouted, but it was too late. She was grasping her hand in pain.
Why couldn't I control myself? I was an idiot.
Moser came up next to me and laid his hand on my covered shoulder. "Just as you did with me."
I calmed down and my skin returned to pale. "That's why your hair is blue and white, to match your skin." Jack said, but I didn't focus on him.
I put my hands around Sami's and warmed her up. "Wow, thanks!"
Smiling dryly, I asked if anyone counted on Pitch coming back. Everyone smiled and shook their heads. "You definitely scared him off." Moser said with a big smile.
"Good. That was my intent."
*Jack's POV*
I shook my head at my egomaniac of a sister and turned around. "Uh, guys, we have a small problem."
The kid stood there staring at us, he was probably eight or nine. I think he only saw the Guardians and myself, but there are those kids that believe everything has a spirit.
His mouth dropped open as everyone acknowledged him and David stepped toward me. "Matthew says he can see all of us except him, Sami, Moser, Tracy, and Alyssa."
Aly heard and I saw her face drop. I wished that there was something I could do, it wasn't like it was easy to make humans see spirits. I did everything I could for three hundred years before one kid saw me.
