It has been a long summer,

Witnessing you sweat profusely,

Having your calloused hands on the whetted steel

Working through and out, night and day,

Your blistering skin became a nightmare,

So let me shush down the world for you,

Come down here,

Let's escape this cruel world,

And gaze at the sky for hours unknown.

I know they have made my heart a priced entity,

I know they told you until you mint a hundred or two

You shan't ever breathe the same air as me,

I know how you spent a thousand nights imagining

How it'd be if it was just you and me,

Unravelling the beauty of scars,

And the spitefulness of perfection.

I know how you prayed every night,

Because it had been so hard for you to show them all the true priority,

I know how you confessed before our Lord that

None of this truly matters,

Because it has been an eternity and our hearts are still connected

By the means we were born.

I know that this is love,

A strange story, for we hadn't seen much,

Nor have spoken,

We haven't held gazes, we haven't shattered each other's heart

Knowingly.

We haven't touched, we haven't measured,

We don't have a million memories of us laughing together,

But we always have dreamt of doing it all.

You see we lay beneath the blanket of the ink black sky,

Dotted with the glimmering stars,

And I spend every night thinking who would bother to paint

The canvas in me so beautifully

Like the stars.

No, I don't expect you to be my light

All the time.

I know how consciousness clouds your messed up thoughts,

I know it gets dark in your world too,

And all I ask is for you to understand that.

Do understand that I might be about rainbows and dew drops,

But I have my days when the raging thunder within me

Won't let me sleep,

Know that I too am a human...

And who am I writing this to?

I am not aware.

Perhaps the ones who cherish me and laugh with me now

My two eyes,

The one who showed the world.

To let them know of my evolving heart.

Perhaps the brother who cracks jokes on me like no tomorrow,

To let him know the one within me.

Or perhaps the one whom my heart awaits to see

Every night dreaming of a shadow drains me out sometimes,

But I know it's worth it, for my Lord

Is pushing me to grow within myself

And I'm delving inside

Searching for the pieces I have left to put together,

Trust me, it is scattered everywhere,

Don't you feel that too love?

Yes it is so hard to make me who I truly am supposed to be,

And I know, this is going to be hard,

You right there, to you,

Brace yourself, for the fierce passion that knocks

Your heart every night,

Isn't to be ignored. This search shouldn't end,

And I know that the real world out there

Doesn't offer you luxuries such as a moment to contemplate

Or introspect.

But let me tell you,

The secrets of a night are only whispered to the soul,

So when the world sleeps,

Shut those glaring lights in front of your faces,

Stop scrolling, breathe the scent of your abode,

And think. And love. And maybe look at the moon,

Whispers of your heart are untainted,

Listen to it, and delve into the depth of you.

Find the scattered pieces within,

Build your castle,

Before you let a royalty enter it

For how you beautify your abode is what matters in the end of the day.

And it would be a long summer,

Imagining his calloused hands

Him working to win your heart,

To build the little castle of your own,

And we shall wait. Miles apart,

Or a few meters,

The beating heart awaits

As the Rabb showers His Mercy on the two of us.

Because there is more to us,

Than for us to be together. Because 'we' are never the end,

Entwined fingers, and a long road ahead,

Await us, until then build yourself, while I do the same.
