Scorpius didn't understand how he felt about his raven haired friend.

The emotions were overwhelming, washing over him like a wave.

Every time he was filled with this heady feeling, it felt like he was drowning, just under the surface of the thin cover of water....

But he could never reach it.

The Potions room was thick with smoke, permeating the student's lungs like a heavy perfume.

The odours could be unbearable at times, and have caused students to rush out, searching for fresh air.

Albus slumped on his chair, posture bent. For him, Potions was equivalent to hell.

He attempted to stir the sluggish mixture, then when it refused to budge, he peeked inside his cauldron.

It had solidified.

Trying not to cry, Albus poured in some miscellaneous ingredients, attempting to get the potion to liquify. He couldn't flunk another time, otherwise an owl would be sent home, and he would receive detention.

He couldn't bear to disappoint his parents.

Covering his face with his hands, Albus gave up. He was on the verge of crying silently when he felt a light tap on his shoulder, and glanced up to pale grey eyes.

"Hey, Albus. Is everything okay?" Scorpius inquired, looking worried.

Albus looked down at his feet. "Honestly? No."

Taking a quick glance around to check for Professor Keele, Scorpius pulled up a chair beside Albus and began measuring ingredients with determination.

Albus watched him with bewilderment. "Scorp, what are you doing?" He hissed.

"I'm fixing your potion," Scorpius replied, under his breath. "You looked really upset, and I absolutely hate seeing you sad."

A warmth fluttered in Albus' chest.

He cares about my feelings...

Although, he never directly said that. He could just feel guilty about my rubbish wizardry.

The emotion was quickly swatted away by those thoughts.

Suddenly, Albus' potion let out a hiss, and began bubbling with satisfying pops. With a triumphant sigh, Scorpius set down a fragile, glass beaker on the oak desk.

"Looks like I won't have to wait for you to get back from detention at nine o'clock at night." He joked, a grin tugging at his expression.

Albus smiled gratefully. "Yeah, I guess so," he said with a laugh.

Scorpius spotted Professor Keele, and began making his way hastily to his seat, but was halted by a tug on his school robe, and glanced back.

"Thank you," Albus whispered.

Scorpius smiled gently back in response.

"Anything for you."
