I knock on his door again. No answer. I sigh, and sit on the steps. I guess he temporarily kicked me out of the house, I thought. I took my phone out, and thought about calling him. I pressed his contact, and it ringed.
Once. Twice. Three times. Four times. Five times. Six times... I ended the call, laid my head against the door. It was cold. It was never this cold in Austin, and last year was the first time it snowed here. Maybe it'll snow again.
Rain started to pour, and I sighed.
I got up, and looked up. His curtains were closed.
I walked down the sidewalk, the cold rain numbing my fingers. I looked around for a dry area, and sat under a bus stop. I rubbed my hands together. 'I never thought he'd go this far,' I thought. This was unlike him. He'd never treat me this way, and whenever he did, he would immediately apologize. I took my phone out, and tried to look for a number to call.
Zach instantly came to my mind.
I wanted him to pick me up, but I know how strict his father is. Suddenly, my phone buzzed.
Took you long enough, Freddy.
I answered the call. Silence. "Where are you?" He asked. I immediately answered, "I should ask you the same thing."
I heard him sigh heavily. "Sorry," he said. "Sorry's not going to work this time," I say, my voice slightly quivering due to the cold. The rain stopped pouring, and it lightly drizzled. He hung up, and I instantly regret being so cold to him.
I stay here for about ten minutes, when I see someone walking down the sidewalk, wearing a jacket. He sat down next to me, and looked at me.
"How did you know where I was?" I ask. Freddy sighed, and took off his jacket. He placed it on my shoulders, and adjusted it slightly. "I tracked your calls," he said bluntly. Idiot.
"Stalker," I say. We sit there in silence. It wasn't the type of silence where you would enjoy someone's company. It was the silence of anger.
"Come on, I'll take you home," he said. I got up, even if I did almost fall. I held onto his sleeve, and we began our walk home.
Even though there were clouds, we could still manage to see the sun set. When we got home, it was dark by then.
He unlocked the door, and opened it for me. I muttered a 'thanks' and got inside. I shrugged off his jacket, and went upstairs. I closed my door, and sat on my bed. All I've ever done was cause problems for him... Maybe I should just go back home. And if I do, maybe my father will call off the case.
I laid down on my bed, and sighed.
I licked my lips, and decided to take a shower.
Freddy POV
I feel guilty.
I know I should. I left her outside, and let her wander by herself on a dangerous road. In the cold. In the rain. I am a bit angry at Alison, though. I mean, sure she caused a lot of problems before, but this one just seemed to make me snap. I get the feeling, that if she returned to her dad, everything will turn out great.
I should talk to her about it.
I start making my way upstairs, when I hear the water running. Oh. I went back to the living room, and plopped myself on the couch. I'll just forget about homework tonight. I stare at the ceiling, wondering if everything would turn out okay if Alison went back to her real home.
But... Then, I'd be back to finding bruises in random places, and cuts everywhere. And, maybe one day, her dad might do something much worse.
I twist and turn. I don't even know anymore. I sit up. Maybe it's an even better idea if she stays here with me. "Freddy!" I hear.
I whip my head, to find Alison in her pajamas. "What?" I ask. She takes a deep breath. "I need to to talk to you," she says. "What is it?" I asked.
She sits down next to me, and takes my hand. I could feel my cheeks heat up. "I've decided to move back in with my dad," she says.
