Mikado POV

When Mikado opened his eyes his body felt heavy. He was exhausted and hungry. He doesn't know how many days it has been. It must have been a few though because his stomach aches with hunger. Outside the door he can hear footsteps and the man with the dirty blonde hair unlocks the door and comes in the room.

"Are you going to be good?" He asks gruffly. He's holding a plate with two sandwhiches on it. Mikado glares silently at the man and holds himself in place. His wrists are handcuffed to metal pipes so he can't throttle the guy even if he wants to. "If you behave I'll give you these sandwhiches."

"Go to hell!" He snaps back in Japanese.

"I can't understand a word you're saying. I know you can understand me so speak English!" The man sanps. He walks up close to the boy and takes out a set of keys and unlocks the cuffs around his right wrist. "Eat. We can't have you starve to death."

With his hand free Mikado slaps the plate with the sandwhiches onit away. They fall on the gound in multiple pieces with a plop. If there's one thing he's resolved to do it's do the exact oposite of whatever these people want.

The man looks surprised for a moment then furious. "Brat!" He yells and slams his fist into the side of Mikado's face. The pain shocks him as his head is whipped to the side and he sees stars. Before the angry man can hit him again John runs into the room and pulls him away and punches him in the face.

"Hey! No beating the kids! Do you want to make the boss angry!" John yells. "He said not one of them is to be hurt! Otherwise it comes out of our hide!" Mikado giggles as the blonde haired man picks himself up off the ground and glares balefully at the preteen. John turns on Mikado, "And you need to cooperate! This defiant attitude will not fly where you're going!" He picks one of the mutilated snadwhiches up off the floor and drops it in Mikado's lap. "Now eat. Or we will make you."

He doesn't say a word and picks the sandwhich up and throws it at John's chest.

John takes a deep breath and turns to his subordinate, "Chain him back up. I'll be back in ten minutes." He says stiffly. John walks out of the room and slams the door shut behind him. The other man stomps up to Mikado. He backs up against the wall and screams bloody murder as his arm is slammed against the wall and the hand cuffs are put back. Despite the fight he puts up Mikado is just too weak to stop the man from doing anything. He's still catching his breath when John returns with his other man in tow.

"Hold him still." John says dismissively and the two men grab the boy so he can't move. John pushes Mikado's head back and forces his mouth open. He dumps a foul tasting mush into his mouth. He covers his mouth and pushes his head into the wall. "Now swallow."

The mush burns the insides of Mikado's cheeks the longer he holds it in his mouth. His eyes tear up and he swallows the nasty concoction. Satisfied John lets him go. Mikado gasps and coughs trying to spit out the nasty taste.

"That's what you will be eating in your new home kid. Baloni sandwhiches are gormet stuff compared to that." John smiles and throws a bottle of water on the floor. "Uncuff one of his hands. He can't escape anyways." John orders the dirty blonde haired foreigner.

However every day Mikado continued to put up a fight and refused to do as he was told. He was not feeling too great by the time he arrived on the west coast of America. He had continued to refuse food and water so he was weak and could barely stand.

When Mikado was dragged off the ship and onto the beach it was to more armed men. The coastline is rocky but it has several boats parked along the shore line. As Mikado watched the other boats kids were yanked off them as well. They walk to the shore on their own with pale frightened faces. They're all thrown into a clump on the beach. Men stand in a circle around them while others run around yelling. Mikao looks at the other children and sees they're mostly Asian like him. China, India, Korea, Cambodia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Syria, etc...

Mikado looks for other children that were probably also taken from Japan but he can't hear anyone else speaking Japanese or with a Japanese accent. He feels shocked when he notices none of the kids are more than ten years old making him the oldest in the bunch. Beside him is a little girl who looks kind of like Rebeca. She's sobbing her eyes out and her eyes are wide open in terror. "Don't cry. It will be alright." He tells her.

The girl looks at him with confused eyes and shakes her head. "Maile bujhina." She sobs in Nepali. Mikado doesn't know what to do for the girl. He can only speak Englih and Japanese. He knows a few words in French but that won't help in this situation. The kids are kept grouped tightly together and trucks start driving up on the beach. The kids are yanked to their feet an pushed to the open doors of the transport verhicles.

The Nepali girl screams as she's yanked off the ground. "Leave her alone! What are you want with us!" Mikado yells in English and lunges after her.

"Sahayao garnus!" The girl screams and is thrown in the back of a truck.

"This one goes in that truck." John says waving to Mikado. He points at a different truck from what most of the other children are being tossed into. The kids closer to Mikado's age are being loaded. They walk up the ramp single file without a fight. Thy have dead lifeless eyes as if they've given up on life in general. He recognizes their features as the peoples of war ravage countries from the mainland.

Two men grabbed both of Mikado's arms and pull him up. He yanks backwards making the men drag him through the rocks and shells. "Let me go!" He screams in Japanese. He's dragged aross the beach roughly and thrown in the back with the other preteens. They're all sitting on their feet looking down in defeat. They scootch back a little as he bounces onto the floor. Even with his hands tied behind his back he scrambles up and charges for the doors. They close and he smashes into them but they're already locked. He bounces off the doors and falls to the ground.

He gets back up and tries again and again even as the truck starts to move. Out of breath and with his whole body shaking Mikado forces himself to stand up again. The ground is moving now and as the truck hits a bump he falls to the ground. He glares at the doors but is too exhausted to get up.

"Just give up." A boy a year younger than Mikado says as he rolls over onto his knees to sit up. "There is no escape." The boy is Vietnamese. He's speaking is heavily accented English.

"No!" He replies also switching to English. "I will not give up! I am not going to et these criminals have their way with me!"

"My English is not very good. You will have to speak slower." The boy says tonelessly.

"How can you all give up! Do you not want to go home!" Mikado yells at the other children. Most of them stare back blankly while the rest don't even blink.

"They can not understand English." The boy says.

Mikado leans against the truck doors exhausted and barely conscious. "I do not understand your motivations. I will escape. I will go home."

The Vietnamese boy stares at Mikado with empty eyes with an expression like nothing matters anymore. "There is no escape. Just give up."

"No." He replies.

"You are barely awake. How can you be so stubborn?" The other boy asks with a deep sadness.

Mikado closes his eyes, "I have to pick my sisters up from day care tomorrow. I can not keep them waiting." He says before falling asleep.
