Utau POV
A few days after Kami's curse had been discovered Shin meets Utau outside her last period classroom. He's leaning against the wall a few feet from the door so no one can touch him on accident. He looks very serious and a little troubled.
"Shin, what are you doing here?" Utau asks.
"Follow me." He says and pushes away from the wall.
"Sure." Utau says falling in step beside Shin. "Where are we going?" She asks when he doesn't say anything.
"First we will meet up with Kami. He is coming to." Shin says. At the end of the hall Utau sees Kami sitting crossed legged with his back to them.
"Okay." Utau says slowly.
"Hello!" Kami waves. He hasn't been in class ever since his curse was discovered. Apparently the researchers wanted to do some testing to see what his curse is capable of. He smiles but despite the energetic tone he greeted them with he looks very tired. He stands up but Utau notices he's moving slower than normal and favoring his left side where as he usually uses his right hand more.
"So where to?" Utau asks Shin.
"Actually she told me we're to make a pit stop." Kami says to Shin. "She wants her to meet Samael first." Kami makes a face like he ate something bitter.
"Okay then? What floor?" Shin asks.
"First floor on the east side. You know, the floor that's one giant white room." Kami says.
Utau looks back and forth at the boys. They're acting a lot more familiar than usual. "Who's Samael?" She asks.
Kami looks thoughtfully toward the ceiling, "I want to say CEO or directer but that's not quite it. Founder maybe?" He looks at her directly and smacks one fist into his open palm. "Head honcho."
"He is the owner of this building as well as the Curse Carrier Project. He has final say over everything that involves us from what we eat to when we sleep." Shin says.
"So someone actually owns all this?" Utau asks surprised.
"Yeah, everything is owned by someone." Kami makes it sound like it should of been obvious. "Samael practically owns us as well."
Utau feels a flash of irritation. "No one owns me!" She snaps at him.
Shin looks surprised by Utau's outburst and she blushes embarrassed. At the elevator one of the men who normally guards the downstairs and outside is waiting. He announces he is Utau's escort. Utau looks at Shin questioningly.
He nods to her to go on ahead. "We will be here when you get back." He looks at Kami out of the corner of his eye. "Thanks to a certain someone we are not allowed to even be on the same floor as Samael."
Kami puts on an expression of innocence. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"You punched him in the face!" Shin snaps at him.
"And he deserved it." Kami replies instantly.
Utau laughs and Shin smiles at her encouragingly. "We will be right here." He promises.
Feeling a little braver now Utau walks into the elevator with the man. She begins to feel nervous again when the doors close. She stands quietly in the back corner of the elevator trying to be as quiet as possible. When the doors open again he directs her down the walkway over looking the big white room. As Utau walks in the direction she was told she looks over the railing at the big empty white room. The floors are hard white tile and the walls painted a boring white. The ceiling has dozens of bright lights. There are no windows on either the walls or the windows looking outdoors. Along one wall is what looks like a mirror but must be a viewing window.
