Shin POV
It's morning and just before classes begin. Shin is in the infirmary visiting Kami again. He visits him every few days to check on his condition. He can't tell anyone else about Tekina so he can't confide in anyone about what happened that day two months ago. Kami is the only person he can talk to and he's unconscious. Once he does wake up he knows for certain Kami can make Tekina see sense.
Today isn't particularly any better then any other day. Kami is slowly improving and is bound to wake up soon but Dr. Blackmore has been saying that for two weeks now. Shin sits down and rests his head on his hands. "This is really starting to feel pointless." He tells Kami. "Why bother talking to you if you will not hear me." He sits up, "This is stupid. You are not going to answer."
Before Shin can get up to leave Kami makes a small noise. Shin stands up and leans over him. His eyes flicker and open. He squints as the room's light blinds him. He blinks rapidly and looks over towards Shin.
"You are awake!" Shin says feeling a deep sense of relief.
He sighs and says is a cracked unused voice, "I wish I wasn't." He sits up slowly and yawns. "I feel like something my aunt's cats dragged in after chewing on it for awhile." He looks around the white hospital room. "How long has it been? Where am I?"
"You are in the infirmary. You have been in a comma for two months. I was starting to think you would never wake up." Shin answers. He walks over to the sink to get a cup of water.
"Two months! How much did I miss? Has anything neat happened? You need to fill me in on everything!" He yells panicked.
"You almost died. Be happy you woke up." Shin puts the cup of water down on the table beside Kami. "I can fill you in later."
Kami looks at the cup then at Shin curiously and takes a drink. "Thank you." He says in a softer calmer voice. "So, what's up?" He asks in a forced casual tone.
"What?" Shin asks confused.
Kami points at Shin's long sleeves and leather gloves. "You're acting weird. Something is different from two months ago. I can't tell what but something or several somethings have happened and they were not good." Kami looks into Shin's eyes and he stares for a long time before speaking. "You're scared to touch others." He says at last.
Shin widens his eyes surprised. "How can you tell?"
"It's a thing I can do. I didn't do an in depth analysis back when we met because I thought we would get to talk again sooner. But I did get the basic gist of your personality down." Kami says. "Back then you respected others boundaries and wouldn't enter someone's personal space without permission but it's different now. You go out of your way to make sure no one gets near you. You hesitate to get close to people and want to be away from them as soon as possible. Your paranoia goes deep enough you won't even hand someone a cup of water."
It's a weird feeling to have his entire personality broken down and every minute detail closely observed. It almost makes him feel transparent in a way. "You are kind of scary. Has anyone told you that?"
"No. Most people don't know I can do this." Kami replies. "So, what has you so spooked?"
Shin looks at his gloved hands and with a reluctant sigh he tells Kami about his power. Kami listens intently to Shin's story until he's done. "So you are just going to accept super powers with no questions asked?" Shin raises an eyebrow.
Kami blinks and nods, "Sure, why not. Weirder stuff happens everyday. Like that time that guy in the grocery store just teleported away. That was weird. Made off with a whole cart of groceries to." He looks back at Shin, "So you can't control your curse?"
