Utau POV
It took another six months of secret meetings with Curse for Utau to learn the necessary skills to become a leader. Shin supervised half the classes and Kami the other half. Sometimes they would attend together when they could get away with it. Interest in Kami's curse started to fade after a couples weeks. The more it's used the more Kami has to sleep in order to regain his strength and the longer it takes him to revive.
Kami became Shin's sparring partner on the days they supervised Utau and Curse's meetings together. Shin was still cautious in his attacks because if Kami was poisoned it still hurt a great deal for him to die. Plus dealing with the defensive half of his curse was very difficult as it moved faster than Kami and was a great deal stronger on top of having a different fighting style.
"One or more of the Curse Carriers under your supervision has had a disagreement and it is quickly turning violent. How do you handle the situation?" Curse asks Utau.
Without hesitation Utau answers, "I break up the fight as quickly as possible. If I have others nearby to assist the fighters are to be pulled apart. If I am alone I am to disable them to end the altercation. After the fighting has ceased I will question both parties as to what caused the fight. I will then find the most peaceful solution to the problem. Then both parties will be punished for fighting in the first place. Severity will depend on the level of the fight." She says.
"What if the fight can't be resolved peacefully?" Curse asks.
Utau tips her head confused. "I don't understand."
"You might not have to deal with it now but sooner or later it might be a problem. Say two Curse Carriers get in a fight over another Curse Carrier's affections. How would you resolve that problem? There's no guarantee the third party will want anything to do with the disagreement." She explains.
Utau looks annoyed like Curse asked a stupid question. "I will not tolerate fights of that nature. Both parties will receive a harsh penalty for starting a fight for a reason like that." She states coldly.
"Ouch. Want to talk about an ice queen." Kami flinches.
Despite her brutal response Curse seems satisfied by her answer. "I think it's time we unveil you as the leader of the Curse Carriers." She says proudly. "Now one final thing is for you to choose the people you want to help with any tough decisions you will have to make sooner or later."
"Like a council or a right hand man?" Utau asks looking surprised.
"Exactly. If you decide to form a council Shinimasu will have to be a member on it. He will deliver my will straight to you." She says.
"No. I will just choose a second in command." She says and looks at Shin. "I would prefer Shin be the one to help me with this despite his circumstances." She says looking back at Curse.
Curse nods her head in approval. "A wise choice. Tomorrow instead of going to class meet Shinimasu outside the eating area. Everyone will be called to an assembly where your new positions will be announced formally. To prevent panic I would prefer you did not mention the devices implanted in all of your spines. Also you are forbidden from mentioning me or Kami's connection to Shinimasu as his ally."
Curse had already explained Kami served a separate purpose from Shin. As a result Kami had to be a lone operator and appear disconnected from any organized groups.
"I know." Utau says shortly. She looks at Shin again and he walks up to them.
"I look forward to working with you." He says formally.
Utau nods. "Me to." She says quietly.
The next day Utau picks at her breakfast. The idea of standing in front of all the children that would be under her care makes her feel very nervous. She had never been good with public speaking and she was not looking forward to it now. When she decides she can't stomach her nutrition shake anymore she throws the rest of it away. Before she can leave though two younger Curse Carriers in Class B walk up to her.
