Shin POV
After supper Shin and Utau separated to go to their respective dorms. In the hallway Shin thinks about what happened over supper. He has never seen Utau just snap at someone like that before. He doesn't know Kami very well yet so he's hard to predict but she wasn't expecting him to get on her bad side so quickly. It was almost as if he did it on purpose. Now that he had met her though he would have to arrange a time to talk to Kami to get his opinion. Then they could talk to Tekina, or Curse as she wants to be called.
Shin is so deep in his own thoughts and problems he jumps out of his skin when he feels someone touch his back. He spins around ready to slap someone's hand away and sees Kami. He smiles and holds his hands up beside his face. "Boo!" He says with a big smile.
"What the Hell!" Shin yells and narrows his eyes to glare at Kami angrily. "Do not touch me. Ever." He snaps and turns around to keep walking.
"You're moody." Kami replies falling into step with Shin.
"I already told you what happens to people when they touch me. My reaction should not surprise you." Shin says irritably. "You could of died. No one is safe from this curse."
"Okay, okay," Kami sighs, "I'm sorry. I'll warn you the next time I jump you." He rolls his eyes exaggeratedly as if Shin had killed his fun.
Shin inhales and exhales sharply but bites back his sharp retort. "What was that at supper? Between Utau and you?" He asks instead.
A big smirk spreads across Kami's face, "I made her hate me." He says with a tone of pride. "I'll be able to analyze more aspects of her personality if she doesn't want to be friends with me. It keeps our relationship objective."
Shin raises an eyebrow, "Will that make it easier to tell if Tek-Curse has a point or something?"
"Not really. I've already come to a conclusion about that. I just don't want to be friends with someone that complicated. Once again, it's difficult to explain. I guess you could say she's more valuable to me as an outsider than a friend or enemy. She's quite fascinating actually. Someone I can really annoy and torment." He explains.
"That makes no sense whatsoever." Shin says. "So do you think she could be a leader?"
"Hmm," Kami hums thoughtfully, "Maybe."
"What does that mean?"
"Well, she does have the smarts to pull it off but she would never be able to fly solo. She would need either a council or an influential second in command that she's willing to listen to. She's the kind of person that doesn't take being ordered around by people she doesn't know or doesn't like very well. She's mule headed for starters and if you anger her she will do the exact opposite of what you want. However I don't see her having the confidence or decisiveness to make a good leader. Maybe a figure head but never a leader." Kami explains.
"So what do you think Curse is thinking?" Shin asks worried now that his suspicions have been confirmed.
"Dunno. She's probably the first person I've ever met that it makes my head spin to try and understand her or what she's thinking. My instinct though is that if I follow her to the end something awesome will happen. I like adventure and excitement and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next." He smiles uncontrollably.
"You are a strange boy." Shin comments. "So will you stand up to Curse with me?"
"I want to hear her side of the story first. Once I understand her reasoning I can come to a final conclusion." Kami says noncommittally.
"It is hard to believe you're younger than me." Shin sighs. Sometimes his actions do remind Shin of a child but in other ways Kami seems like someone closer to Shin's age.
