Utau's POV
After their meeting in the infirmary Utau and Shin join the other children in the cafeteria. In there were adults dressed in white nurse looking clothes. They were calling out names and pointing at different corners of the room. As they walk in a woman in the white get up walks up to them. "State your names."
"Shinimasu." Shin says. The woman looks at her clipboard and points at the right corner nearest the door.
"Class A. Wait for your name to be called and get your class schedule." She orders and turns to Utau. "State your name."
"Utau." She says in a high pitched squeak. Adults intimidate her ever so slightly.
After consulting her clipboard she tells Utau to join group A along with Shin and to wait for her name to be called.
"What's going on?" She whispers to Shin.
He shrugs, "I do not know."
"001, Utau." A man in the white uniform says loudly. Utau walks up to him holding her hands tightly against her chest. He hands her a sheet of paper and calls out the next name. She looks at it to see the paper has a list of classes. First is math and science. Followed by three language classes on French, Spanish and German. After lunch is combat training and Power practice. These two classes appear to be twice as long as her other classes. After that there are three more classes. The first one is grammar and the next study hall. The last class is labeled special training/study hall.
As Utau gets close to Shin the man from before calls out, "005 Shinimasu." Shin gets his schedule and walks back to Utau.
He skims the paper and leans against the wall, "Looks like classes. I guess we are going to learn." He states looking it over.
Utau looks at the class schedule again, "Why are we learning three new languages? And I don't see a history class here."
"Most of the kids here do not speak English. Everyone who doesn't speak English probably has to take an English class." He says. "As for history I do not know why it is not here. They might think it is not an essential class for what we will be learning here."
"I think I'm okay with it. I don't like history anyways." Utau jokes nervously.
"Looks like we have the same combat and power practice classes." Shin points out. "And German and special classes."
Utau looks at Shin's schedule to see what his is. She feels confused when she sees the whole thing is written in funny looking squiggles. "What is that?" Shin looks at her confused. "Your schedule. I can't read it."
"Oh, this. It is Kanji. I am bi-lingual in English and Japanese but my first language is not English. That is probably why I am in English class instead of Spanish. I can speak the language well enough but I have a hard time reading the Latin alphabet. Some of your words are not written the way they are pronounced. It is a very strange language." Shin explains.
"Class A, follow me!" The man who had handed their schedules out yells. He repeats the same order in five other languages and walks towards the door. Shin and Utau hang out at the back of the massive group. The man leads them up several floors. He shows them a long hallway and points to different classrooms. Each room has several plaques on the door in multiple languages. Each room matches a name on the classroom schedule. "This floor is for Class A. The combat training and power practice rooms are on the floor below us. You will have joint training classes with Class B."
Utau listens to their guide intently as he tells them where each of the classes are. He leads them on a tour of the Class A floor and the floor below it. After the tour of the building everyone is sent to their second class of the day. Utau and Shin go their separate ways. Utau enters her science class. Their teacher is a middle aged woman with straight black hair pulled back in a tight professional bun. Everyone in this class either speaks English or is at least proficient in it as their second or third language. The age of the group are mixed with the youngest kids being six or seven and the oldest kids being ten or eleven.
