Shin POV
The red haired boy shivers, "Oo, I have goosebumps now." He smiles excitedly and shows Mikado the raised hairs on his arm. So he had also felt the truth in the young girl's words.
Mikado chooses ignores the other boy and looks at the girl. "I will admit I never heard that last part but I am familiar with the rest. I commend you. You have done your homework. However I do not see what any of tht has to do with what is going on here and now." He says stubbornly.
The other boy looks at Mikado with big eyes like he thinks he's stupid, "It's obvious. She's the Goddess of Despair." He states like it should of been obvious.
"It's kind of creepy how perceptive you are." The little girl says to the red haired child. She looks at Mikado, "I want you both to protect me." The girl lays her hands on her lap palms up to reveal large ugly scars on her upper wrists. "I cannot weild a weapon to protect myself so I need to rely on others."
Mikado feels needlessly angry at the sight of the scars. It almost feels what he imagines what it would be like if someone hurt one of his little siblings. The other boy also appears troubled by the deep scars but keeps his emotions in check. "Who did that to you?"
She smiles, "My family. So, will you act as my protectors and obey my orders? If you do I promise to keep your family safe and return you to them one day." She says seriously.
"I will!" The red haired boy says without hesitation.
Mikado feels less certain and looks at the girl skeptically and thinks her proposal over carefully. Despite wanting to think it over carefully and rationly he already knows he wants to obey her. He can't understand why he wants to serve a girl half his age but it feels like the right thing to do. As if that's why he exists. "Fine. Whatever." He says noncomittedly
The little girl smiles and lets out a relieved sigh. "Thank you. Both of you. My name is Zetsubō-Tekina. For the purpose of keeping my true name hidden I want you to call me Curse. Now tell me your names."
"I'm Lazuli Satin! I'm eight years old! And I love dragons!" The red haired boy says loud and proud.
Mikado sighs not quite knowing what he's gotten himself into. "My name is Higurashi Mikado. I am twelve years old. I like reading." He states.
Tekina nods her head, "For the purpose of keeping your true names hidden I will assign both of you new names." She looks at Lazuli, "You're new name shall be Kami. Do you promise to never again go by Lazuli?"
"This is so exciting! We even get code names!" He bounces up and down.
"Do you promise?" Tekina asks.
"I have no idea who Lazuli is. My name is Kami!" The boy's teal eyes glitter.
Mikado surpresses a smirk when Tekina turns to him, "Your new name will be Shinimasu. Do you promise to never go by Mikado ever again?"
He raises an eyebrow, "Why do our true names need to be hidden?"
She sighs and mutters under her breath, "You were always the inquistive one."
"What does that mean?" Mikado snaps at her.
"And with the hearing of a hawk." She smiles ruefully as if remembering something sad. "Everyone will have new names appointed to them shortly. I'm just changing your ahead of schedule." Tekina says pointedly. She smiles ant Mikado and closes one eye playfully, "Or are you just upset your name means death?"
Mikado looks don in defeat, "Fine, whatever. Call me whatever you want."
"What's Kami mean?" The other boy asks Shinimasu.
