Matt's POV

I was pissed. I left Kat pissed, I went to bed pissed and I woke up pissed. She had actually gone on another date and that hurt. A date that she'd never mentioned to me, not at all, a date that I'd only found out about because old slick had showed up at the movie's, other wise I still wouldn't have had a clue.

I was really angry actually and I got angry as the day's went by because she didn't even try to call and apologise, not once did she try to call. Not that I would have answered, I was just to angry and hurt by her.

"So are you coming on Friday?" Brian asked me.

"What?" I mumbled.

He'd shown up at my place an hour ago and we were just sitting around the pool, having a few beers.

"To my place." He explained. "On Friday, are you coming?"

I nodded. "Yeah I guess so."

"You brining Kat?" He asked cautiously and it was at that moment I knew he knew.

Obviously Kat had told Dani and Dani told Brian. Fuck, was anything private.

"We broke up." I said flatly, looking at the pool.

"Why?" He asked.

I frowned. "Not that it's any of your business." I snapped. "But she's not who I thought she was."

He laughed, he actually laughed. "Are you sure?" He chuckled. "You seemed pretty taken with her."

"Well I was wrong." I snapped. "And that's the end of that, it's over and I'm done talking about it."

"Okay okay." Brian muttered. "Sorry."

I didn't know why everybody had to know my fucking business, it wasn't like I hadn't broken up with girls before.

Only this was different because I had feelings for Kat, I really did.

My mood didn't improve as the week went on, actually it got worse and Kat still did not call me. Obviously I didn't mean as much to her as she did to me.

By the time it came to going to Brian's little party my mood was actually disgusting and I didn't really want to go. As I was driving there I had a thought. Was Kat going to be there? Worse yet, what if she had her other boyfriend with her?

"Fucking great." I muttered, getting out of my car and slamming the door.

I walked around to Brian's backyard, surveying the scene. It was the usual crowd, all in different states of drunkenness and I knew by nights end I'd be joining them. I needed to get drunk, really drunk.

"Hey Matt." Johnny called out from the pool. "Where's Kat?"

Great, it had already started.

I ignored him, walking over and grabbing a beer, spying Brian. As I walked over towards him Rachel appeared, blocking my path.

"So where's your girlfriend?" She asked.

God she was atrocious and I wanted to slap her. She was disgusting.

"We're not together anymore." I mumbled, attempting to push past her.

"Oh." She purred, grabbing my arm. "What a shame." And she winked at me.

I just looked at her. Was she fucking serious?

"I mean I always thought you could do better than her." She went on her. "What sort of a name is Kat anyway?"

I pulled my arm away from her hand, walking away before I told the cow to go fuck herself.

"Hey." Brian smiled, raising his beer to me. "Glad you could make it."

"I had nothing better to do." I mumbled, inconspicuously glancing around, seeing if Kat was here.

"Oh yeah I forgot." He chuckled. "You're single now."

I looked at him, shaking my head. "Whatever."

"Kat's not coming." He went on. "So you know, maybe you can hook up with someone else."

"Fuck off." I snapped at him, turning and walking away.

I sure as shit wasn't going to be staying long if I had to put up with this shit all night.

"Oh hey Matt." Dani said, suddenly appearing from nowhere.

Christ, people were coming from every where tonight.

"Oh hey." I mumbled, barely looking at her.

"How are you?" She asked, taking a sip of her wine.

I shrugged. Her best friend cheated on me, what could I say? "Alright."

"Alright." She hissed. "You're alright?"

I frowned. "Well yeah, I guess."

"Nice." She said nodding. "It's nice that you're alright. Have you heard from Kat?"

I shifted uncomfortably. "No, I have not heard from Katelyn."

"Please don't call her that." She snapped. "She fucking hates it. Now why haven't you heard from her?"

I rolled my eye's. "I'm pretty sure you know why Dani." I snapped back.

"Um, why, because her ex boyfriend showed up." Dani went on. "And he showed her a little affection."

"A little affection." I spat. "They went on a date, a fucking date."

"Oh Matt." Dani muttered. "They went on the date after that fucking fiasco at Zack's place, you know, when Kat thought you were ignoring her."

'What?" I mumbled.

"You heard me you dumbass." Dani snapped. "Kat can't fucking stand Brandon, he's a dick, but she thought you weren't interested so she went out with him, that's it."

"Oh." I said taking a drink of my beer. So Kat had actually gone out with him before we'd gotten serious?

"That's right, oh." Dani snapped. "So are you curious about what Kat's been doing?" She asked me and I was in for the full lecture, there was no way I was getting away from it.

"Sure." I mumbled feeling like a chastised child.

"Well Matt." Dani hissed, stepping closer. "She's been sitting at home, wondering why you broke up with her."

"Well." I started, but she cut me off.

"But then you know what she said me to Matt." Dani went on, oh and she was on a roll. "She said to me, well we didn't really break up because he wasn't really my boyfriend."

I frowned. "What?" That made no sense. I'd made it perfectly clear to Kat that we were together.

"Yeah that's right Matt." Dani went on. "Apparently Kat thought you just hung out with her when you bored and fucked her occasionally."

I took a mouthful of my beer at that precise moment and when Dani said that I started choking.

"That's not fucking true." I coughed, and it wasn't true, not at all. How could Kat think that what we had was casual?

"Oh yeah it is." Dani hissed. "Plus the fact that you're embarrassed by her, well you know, when you're around your friends."

Fuck me. Where was this coming from? I thought I'd explained it to Kat? I thought she understood.

"Dani, that's not true." I told her and it wasn't, not a word of it.

She shrugged. "I'm only telling you how Kat feels." She said looking at me. "So don't you have some where else to be?"

I looked at her, handing her my beer.

She was right, I did have some where else to be, and I needed to get there now.
