Matt's POV
I opened my eye's and looked at the ceiling, stretching. It was my birthday and tonight was my party. I was looking forward to it, but also I wasn't.
I still wasn't talking to Kat, she just made me so angry. I couldn't believe she'd keep something like to herself, not tell Zack, not tell me or anyone. She made me look stupid in front of Zack and that made me angry. How could she keep that too herself? I was trying to get over it, but Zack was calling me everyday and every time he did he always made a snide comment abut how my girlfriend kept it a secret.
I groaned, rolling out of bed. How the hell would the party go tonight with Kat and I not even talking? Kat wasn't even trying to talk to me anymore, she'd stopped trying. She came home late, actually really late from work last night and she'd been sleeping in the spare room for over a week now.
We needed to sit down and talk and yeah, I needed to apologise for some of the things I'd said, I'd just been angry and embarrassed.
I got up, walking into the kitchen and Kat was standing there, drinking a coffee. She didn't even look at me as I walked in and I made a cup of my own coffee, sitting down.
As soon as I sat down my phone rang and I picked it up, smiling.
"Happy birthday." Mom said straight away.
"Thanks Mom." I said smiling to myself, glad that at least someone had wished me a happy birthday.
"So anyway." She said. "I'll be over early, help set up."
"It's okay Mom." I said, inconspicuously watching Kat make herself some breakfast. "I have people coming in to do it."
"It's fine Matthew." She went on. "I'll be over around four okay?"
"Sure." I said smiling. There was no point arguing with my mother.
"See you then." She said hanging up.
I put my phone down taking a drink of my coffee and smiling. Hopefully tonight would be a good night.
"Happy birthday." Kat suddenly grunted at me, shoving three gifts on the table.
"Eh." I grunted back, looking at the gifts.
I wondered what she got me, actually I was a little surprised that she'd gotten me anything, but I was secretly thrilled. I was dying to open them, but I needed the bathroom first.
I took another mouthful of my coffee then went to the bathroom quickly.
Maybe tonight won't be so bad after all, I thought to myself as I walked back into the kitchen. I stopped, looking at the table. Kat and the gifts were gone. She'd taken them back.
"Fuck." I muttered, making myself breakfast, I had too much to do today to be worrying about this shit.
I finished breakfast, having a shower and then I started the setting up. Kat was obviously in her room and I thought she might come out and help, well that was until Zack showed up to help, then I knew she wouldn't come out.
"Did you kick her out yet?" Zack asked when we were in the yard, sorting out where the bar area would be.
"What?" I asked him, confused.
"Kat." He snapped. "Did you kick her lying ass out yet?"
I frowned. "Not yet." I mumbled. I didn't add that I wouldn't be either. I mean she was my girlfriend and I still loved her, immensely.
"Yeah well you should." Zack went on. "I mean who knows what the fuck she's doing Matt, I mean she could be sleeping with anyone, she's great at keeping things to herself."
I sighed, looking at him. "Zack, enough." I said quietly. "You know that's not true."
"I was just saying." He muttered walking off and grabbing a beer.
Yeah well he could just say it, but not about my fucking girlfriend.
I never laid eye's on Kat all day. It was my birthday and my girlfriend spent the day avoiding me. I didn't blame her, I'd been an asshole, but still, I wanted her to spend my birthday with me.
Eventually everything was ready and I made my way inside, to shower and get ready. I could hear Kat in the other bathroom, getting ready, so at least she was coming to the party.
I finished getting ready then made my way outside, greeting everyone as they started to arrive. Tonight would be a good night, I'd make sure it was.
I was standing around, talking to Johnny and my parents when Kat finally made an appearance. She walked out the back door, stopping and glancing around. She had on a beautiful dress, that suited her and clung to her in all the right places, her hair was straightened and out and she had a strappy pair of heels on.
"Fuck me." I whispered to myself. She looked fucking perfect, beautiful, and even when we were fighting she still took my breath away.
"Finally." Brian announced, standing in my line of sight. "We made it, Dani took forever to get ready."
"Great." I said plastering on fake smile while cursing him in my head.
"Yeah so happy birthday." He said shaking my hand. "Now I need a drink."
"Happy birthday." Dani said coldly, glaring at me.
"Wine babe?" Brian asked her and she nodded, still glaring at me.
Luckily Brian led her away and I relaxed a little. Obviously she knew what was going on and I gathered Kat had told her.
I was pleased to see everyone who said they were coming actually came and the night was getting off to a great start. I was having a few beers, watching Kat, glad to see her talking to a few of the other's girls. She was having a wine and she was smiling. Fuck, she really was perfect.
"Food." Johnny mumbled, looking at me.
I shook my head. "Over there." I told him, pointing him the direction of food. In typical Johnny form he'd drunk too much to quickly and was well on his way to being shitfaced.
"He's an idiot." Zack laughed as we watched him stagger over to the food.
"He is." I chuckled, smiling as I felt an arm slip around my waist.
I smiled, expecting to look down at Kat, but instead I looked down at Victoria.
"Happy birthday baby." She purred, smiling at me.
I stepped away from her. "What are you doing here?" I asked her. Who the fuck invited her?
"It's your birthday Matt." She said. "I wasn't going to miss it and besides, Zack invited me."
Zack smiled, nodding. "I figured it would show Kat that she had a little competition."
They both laughed, while I looked at them. Were they serious? Seriously fucking up my life.
"I need a drink." I mumbled, turning and heading to the bar area, getting as far away from Victoria as I could.
"Nice." Dani hissed, sidling up next to me.
"What?" I asked, grabbing another beer.
"Don't you fucking what me you piece of shit." She hissed. "You treat Kat like shit and then you invite your ex girlfriend to your party."
"Now look." I started, but as usual Dani was on a roll and there was no stopping her.
"I seriously hope Kat takes my advice." She hissed. "I really do."
"And what advice is that?" I asked, not really wanting to know the answer.
"To leave you." She hissed. "You are pathetic. You have, no had, a woman who loved you and would do anything for you and this is how you treat her."
"Dani wait...." But she cut me off again.
"I'm telling her again." She hissed. "She can do so much better than you, I really hope she listens."
I watched her turn and walk away, heading over to Kat.
Fuck. She was right. I'd really fucked up.
