Matt's POV

I walked over smiling, putting my wallet and phone on the table, sitting down. Dani, Brian, Zack and Johnny were already seated and I guessed they'd just been waiting for me.

"Four days to go." I told them, picking up the menu and looking.

"Geez Matt." Brian chuckled. "Anyone would think you're keen to get home."

"Not at all." I mumbled, indicating to the waitress to get me a beer.

"Yeah right." He laughed.

Okay, truth be told I was keen to go home, very keen. It had been a week and a half and I was dying to see Kat, I really was. I didn't think I'd miss her as much as I did, but I did, I missed her a lot.

"Two shows to go." Zack said taking a drink of his beer.

I nodded. He was right, only two shows to go then I was out of here, back home to Kat.

Finally my beer appeared and as I picked it up to drink it, my phone started vibrating it's way across the table.

Dani grabbed it, looking at the screen and frowning before handing it to me.

I took it from her, wondering what she was frowning at until I glanced at the screen myself.

Jesus. Victoria. What the hell did she want? We broke up almost a year ago, and truth be told I'd barely thought about her, at all, well never now I'd met Kat.

I answered the phone, getting up from the table and walking away.

"Hello." I said, frowning.

"Matt, baby." Victoria gushed. "It's so good to hear your voice."

"Oh." I mumbled, not sure what to say. "Long time no hear." It was lame but I didn't care.

"Well it has been a year babe." Victoria murmured. "Which is of course why I'm calling."

I frowned. "What?"

"Well I called by your house." She told me. "Remember we said we'd get together after the year, talk about where we were heading and stuff."

"Oh yeah." I mumbled. I vaguely remembered saying that when we broke up, I just never actually thought about it.

"Yeah so I called over your house." She went on. "And there you were, on tour."

"Yeah it's only a short tour." I told her. "Why'd you drop by?" Why did she drop by?

"So we could make a date Matthew." She giggled softly. "To talk about us."

"Oh." It was the only thing I could of to say. There was no us.

"Yes oh." She said softly. "I called into your house, saw your house sitter and she told me you'll be home next week."

House sitter?

"House sitter?" I asked her.

"Yes Kat or something was her name I think." She said.

Oh god, she'd spoken to Kat, damn, although I couldn't help but smile at the thought of Kat staying at my place. I kind of liked the idea of it.

"Yes Kat." I told her. "And we'll be home on Monday." And I couldn't fucking wait.

"Great." She said cheerily. "So maybe we should go out for dinner Wednesday night?"

"Um." I mumbled.

"Matthew, I've really missed you." She went on, not sensing my hesitation. "This year has been long and hard without you, and well, I really want to work it out with you, we belong together."

"Um well." I mumbled. "There's a problem with that." And there was a huge problem, the fact I wasn't interested.

"Oh." She said. "Well if you can't make Wednesday we can do another night."

"Um no Victoria." I said, biting my lip. "Well the house sitter, Kat, she's actually my girlfriend."

"Oh." She mumbled.

"Yeah."

"I can't believe you met someone else." She suddenly snapped. "I mean we said we would give it a year."

That was true, but damn, our relationship had soured and a year wasn't going to change that.

"I know Victoria." I told her. "But I met Kat and well things sort of progressed."

"I see." She snapped.

"I didn't plan on meeting her." I explained. "It just kind of happened."

"Well isn't that nice." She snapped. "Here I've been planning a life with you for the last year and you moved on."

God she was so angry and I glanced over at the table to see Dani glaring at me, great she was angry too, and fuck Kat, no wonder she sounded a little short on the phone last.

"Yeah Victoria." I started but I didn't get to finish because she hung up.

I glanced at my phone, walking back to the table. "I have to leave now." I told everyone.

"What?" Brian laughed, looking at me. "What for?"

"Um Kat." And damn, I just knew she was mad.

"God Matt." Zack laughed. "You must have it bad, I mean can't you wait a few more day's."

"Yeah two show's." Brian added. "that's it, then you can go home to your honey bunch."

They had a point.

"You've never cancelled before." Zack went on. "And never over a chick."

I glared at him. I really didn't appreciate him calling Kat a chick.

"I think it's cute." Dani added smiling at me.

God, now they were all looking at me with dumb grins on their faces. "Yeah you're right." I said in a cool voice. "Kat can wait."

Dani frowned at me and I glanced down at my phone again. I needed to call Kat and I needed to call her now.

"Um." I said standing up again. "I'll be back in a minute, I think I left my wallet in my room." And I turned and headed for the elevators.

I pushed the button, waiting. God I wished it would hurry. Who the fuck knew what Kat was thinking or what the hell Victoria had told her.

"Fuck." I snapped as the elevator finally arrived.

I jumped in, fidgeting and looking at my phone as it rose to my floor. Finally it stopped and I got out, jogging to my door and letting myself in.

As soon as I was in the room I pressed Kat's number and held the phone to my ear.

Hi this is Kat, leave a message and I might call back

Of course she wouldn't answer, she probably hated my guts right about now.

I took a deep breath. "Hey babe." I said into the phone. "It's just me. I'm sorry I missed you but I'll try again later. Four day's baby and I'll be home. I miss you like crazy and I love you Kat."

I hung up, closing my eye's. Everything I'd said was true. I did miss her like crazy and I loved her, I really did.

I only hoped Kat believed it.

I made my way back downstairs and as I got to the table everyone laughed at me.

Dani was sitting there waving my wallet around.

Fuck.
