Chapter 21

Kat's POV

"Are you ready?" Matt asked, sticking his head in the bedroom door.

"Almost." I snapped at him, zipping up my overnight bag and smiling to myself.

Yes I was still giving him a little bit of a hard time, but honestly he deserved it and I was making sure he did some major sucking up before I completely forgave him.

"Brian and Dani are coming at four." He mumbled.

I grabbed my bag, turning to glare at him. "And it's not even three so what's the problem?" I snapped.

"Oh nothing." He mumbled, reaching out and grabbing my bag from me.

Yesterday I made Matt spend the rest of the day making it up to me and he'd stayed over again last night. Tonight Brian and Dani were coming to Matt's for dinner so we were staying the night at his place.

"Okay I'm ready." I told him, finally, after making him wait around for another five minutes.

I followed him to the front door and as he opened it he turned back around, leaning over and kissing me softly. God, did he have to do such sweet things like that? But I closed my eye's enjoying, because I knew once Brian and Dani arrived there would be none of this until they left. I didn't mind, it was Matt and I loved him, emotional retardation and all.

"Come on." He murmured and I locked up, following him down to the car.

"So what are we going to have for dinner?" I asked as Matt headed for his place.

"Yeah I dunno." He mumbled. "Maybe we can order in?"

I shrugged. "I guess so, because I'm not cooking."

"I don't expect you too Kat." He said softly and I smiled, glad to see he was still a little bit afraid of me.

"Good, because I'm not slaving away in the kitchen." I told him.

"Dramatic." He mumbled.

"I beg your pardon?" I asked him, raising my eyebrows.

"Nothing." He murmured smiling.

We arrived at his place and went inside. I took my bag to his room, secretly pleased to be staying here. I really did love his house, and his bed, god it was just so divine.

"Want a wine or something?" Matt called from the kitchen and I walked in to find him standing at the fridge.

"I do." I told him, grabbing the glasses.

We sat down and had a glass of wine, waiting for Brian and Dani to arrive and while we did that Matt stole a few kisses, that honestly I was happy to give to him.

We were sitting on the couch still kissing, wine forgotten when the doorbell rang, signalling Brian and Dani's arrival, so we both got up to greet them.

"Hi." Dani said, walking in and hugging me.

I felt like I hadn't seen her for so long and it was so good to see her.

"I missed you." I laughed, hugging her back.

"Did you two work it out?" She whispered in my ear.

"Sure did." I said smiling at her. "Hey Brian."

"Hey Kat." He smiled. "Check this out numb nuts." He said to Matt, slapping a magazine against his chest.

"Do I have to?" Matt grumbled, scrunching the magazine.

"Yep and get me a beer." Brian demanded.

We all got another drink and headed out the back, enjoying the last of the day's sunshine. Dani and I chatted, while Matt read the article, his face growing darker every minute.

"This is such bullshit." Matt snapped at Brian, throwing the magazine on the table.

"Tell me about it." Brian muttered, taking a long drink of his beer.

I reached out, grabbing the Metal Hammer.

"Don't read that." Matt snapped at me.

I glared at him, daring him to say something else. "I will read it."

I looked at the article, written by Desiree Sommers. As I read it, I realised that Miss Desiree Sommers really did not like the guys, at all, she had absolutely nothing nice to say at all, and truth be told, I found it highly amusing.

"Oh." I said looking at Dani. "I think she must know you guys."

"Oh." Matt said looking at me. "Why do you say that?"

"Well it say's right here, Womanising lead guitarist." And I looked at Brian. "Womanising hey Brian."

"Oh I see." Dani said, looking at Brian with her eyebrow's raised.

"Look she hates us." Brian muttered, cheeks flushing. "I'm not a fucking womaniser."

"Well Desiree thinks so." I grinned, waving the magazine around.

"Yeah." Matt chuckled, taking a drink of his beer.

"Oh wait." I said looking at Matt. "You shouldn't talk because I'm pretty sure she knows you too."

"How?" He grumbled, looking at me.

"If you want to pay money to hear good music Avenged Sevenfold is the not band to see." I quoted. "But if you do want to see an arrogant badly dressed guy, run around the stage like a lost child, wailing into the microphone, well this is the band for you, although you might leave wondering how M Shadows and his giant ego fit on the same stage."

I burst out laughing, I couldn't help it and I was glad to see Dani laughing along with me.

"It's not funny." Matt mumbled, shaking his head.

"Well she has the ego thing right." I said, trying to stop my laughter because clearly Brian and Matt were not impressed.

"I don't have a big ego." He snapped standing up. "Beer?" He asked Brian, snatching the magazine off me and throwing it in the rubbish as he walked back inside.

"Look." Brian said to Dani and I as Matt went inside. "It's really not funny, and well Matt takes it personal."

"I know." I told him. "I just like giving him a hard time."

"I know." Brian said. "But don't Kat, honestly."

So I took Brian's advice and I didn't mention the ego or the magazine for the rest of the night, we ate and we talked and it was really nice, catching up with both of them, but especially Dani.

We ordered Chinese, had a few wines and by the time they left I was feeling really relaxed and really ready for bed.

"I'm going to bed." I told Matt as he closed the door after seeing them off.

"I'll be in shortly." He told me, heading out the back to lock up.

I went into the bathroom and got ready, cleaning my teeth, changing into my pyjama's and then I got into the glorious bed, waiting for Matt.

By the time I heard him come in and turn the light off I had started to doze off, full and happy.

I felt him get into bed and I rolled over, snuggling against him.

"Matt." I whispered softly.

"Yes?" He murmured, wrapping his arm's around me.

"I just wanted to let you know that I love the way you dress." I whispered, trying not to laugh. "And I adore your ego."

"Shut up Kat." He murmured kissing me softly.

I closed my eye's, I did adore him, I adored everything about him.
