I went back up the stairs, and they were waiting for me at the top, I gave Colton the note, who tried not to laugh but failed and then covered it up with a fake cough.

“Find her” I ordered, her scent was lingering in the hallway, I just thought it was from when she took a shower.

“Shes not in the house alpha” Marcos informed me.

“Shit” I went out the back door pulling my shirt off in the process, I pushed my wolf down further. I knew he was livid from our mate leaving us. Her scent was out here too, heading to the closest territory line.

Has she crossed the border yet?” I asked my patrols and didn’t get a response, I shifted taking my shorts in my mouth, I could here the others following suit. I was much faster, I was running off power and rage. It usually took about 30 minutes, but I was there in 7.

Zach one of the patrols was tied to a tree, along with all of the other southwest border patrols, they were unconscious. Some of them were in the tree, upside down hanging from braches. How? And there was a piece of notebook paper folded in half. I picked it up and the words “see ya sweetheart” were printed in the middle.

“Son of a bitch” I muttered as my pack got here. It about to rain too, shes smart. She is so smart, she thought this through ill give her that. Guess she didn’t think about the part of an angry possessive alpha on her ass through. Like she said before alpha’s like to play chase.

“Did you find her?” Adam asked.

“She’s smart” was all I said, I followed her scent to the creek. She burned her clothes, so we wouldn’t have a lead, and she didn’t it right before a storm so her scent washed away.

“Alpha is there a problem?” he asked following me.

I laughed “She's smart as hell Adam, She burned her clothes so we wouldn’t have anything to go on, and this rain is about to wash her scent away, see my dilemma?” I asked. I guess I was shocked, to say the least. I was keeping so calm, I’m sure they were more scared of me then they would have been if I was punching trees right now.

“im going to follow her before it stars raining” I told him, I knew I had way too much alpha In my voice, but I was doing good by not ripping anyone’s head off.

He nodded “ill cut the southeast border patrols out of the tree” he told me. How she did that I have no idea. But she did. Im learning to never under estimate her.

I let the shift over take my body, and I took my clothes, and I followed her mouthwatering scent, taking 5 miles a minute. Power of the alpha. Her scent was so unique, it was strong and musky. It smelled like straight sex, mixed with something sweet, but it was strong and powerful. Her scent is different, its addicting and not just to me, ive had male pack mates drawn to it, hence why there were guards. Not like they did any good, they can hold back full grown males, but they cant hold off my little ball of fire.

She reminds me so much of fire, the fire in her eyes, and the way she acts towards people. She doesn’t trust people easily, I don’t even know if she trusts people at all. I doubt it, I don’t know what she’s been through, but she’s been hurt by a lot of people. My mom says it’s a defense method, printed in the minds of the strongest warriors. No distractions, no problems. I figured that’s what it was for her a defense meconism, like she told me when we first met ‘she doesn’t do relationships’, Mom said that’s the warrior coming out in her. I knew she had powerful blood by the way she looks me in the eyes and never submits, she’s really something else.

I passed through another territory line, that was the third one. I have permission to enter every pack’s territory in North America, well except her old pack, and one up in Alaska. I don’t think she does cold weather though, I know she didn’t get her tanned skin from chilling with polar bears and drinking hot chocolate.

I ran for hours, im surprised I haven’t caught up with her yet. Most wolves wouldn’t be able to run this long, aside from alphas and she’s a female. There I go underestimating her again, and there she goes proving me wrong again. The thunder got louder and more frequent, but a single drop never touched the ground.

I stopped abruptly, her scent went two different ways, one went north east and the other went north west. Shit, she’s playing me. Maybe she knows im following her, im sure she knew I would be following her before she left. She was probably counting on it, hence why she went one way and back tracked going the other way.

I closed my eyes and focused on which one was stronger, that would be the one she backtracked on. The one going to the north east was strong, so she went west. I took the left one and ran for a another hour, her scent stopped at a creek. It didn’t matter if I went through it her scent would be masked. And on top of that it started to rain. Like pour down, thunder storm weather.

Damn it. I let out a howl, that held my hurt and pain from her leaving, hopefully she’s not too far away that she didn’t hear it. I turned around and ran back in the direction I came from. I will find her. Mark my words, I will , I promise. If it’s the last thing I do.

The next three months passed in a blur. A blur of business and keeping myself busy, and trying to find Kayden. I was upset and affected by her absence, but its not as bad as it could’ve been. We never kissed and the first kiss is what sparks up most of it. All we did was touch, and even when I was carrying her, I never touched her skin. I still felt the sparks through the fabric and I loved each spark and tingle that shot through my arm.

Kayden somehow got into my office and left sticky notes, everywhere. When I say everywhere, I mean after three months im still finding them. They were mostly just cuss words or smiley faces. Each time I found one, it either pissed me off and then I got upset because I still hadn’t found her or I just got upset. I think she used probably 500 of them, ive already counted I have them stuck together on the edge of my desk, the boys joke about how every time they come in here they learn a new colorful word to use for the day until I find the next one. Kayden has a unique way of thinking, most of the words are words ive never heard of, but its Kayden so I shouldn’t be surprised.

There was a timid knock at the door “Come in” I said loud enough for whoever it was to hear.

A girl walked in she had blonde hair that was long and straight and she was wearing jeaned shorts and a t-shirt and converses.

“Hi Alpha” she said looking at the floor.

“Hi?” I said uncertainly, I had more than a few females come to show me how much better they were then Kayden, and they used those exact words. And they were all sent from my office seconds after they mentioned anything to do with sex.

“Um I just wanted to tell you that I work at the airport, and Kayden came in from Hawaii, and bought a ticket to Chicago, and Miami and a ticket back to here in 3 days” she told me, I sat up straighter in my seat.

“has she already left?” I asked, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and checked the time.

“Yes she left 40 minutes ago, she comes in almost every week from different parts of the world, but automatically buys tickets that leave within 10 minutes of her arrival, this is the first time she’s bought one to come back here so I thought I should tell you” she told me still looking at the floor.

“whats your name?” I asked her.

“Molly” she replied.

“Do you know Kayden?” I asked.

“yeah when she comes in, we have coffee sometimes” she admitted shrugging.

“What time in three days?” I asked.

“9:30 at night” she replied.

“Ok thanks” I said as she turned around and left. Haha here I come sweetheart.
