Jase stayed silent for a minute, looking at our hands. I don’t know how I would react if he pulled his hand away and rejected me. I'm not sure if I would cry or throw the table at him for making me trust him. Probably both.
I watched him for a while just in case this was the last time I would ever be considered his mate in his eyes. I loved the way his hair curled at the ends and the rich chocolate color of his eyes. I loved his high cheekbones and strong jawline, and his perfect lips. I loved his smile that he only showed for me.
I eventually just looked down at our hands too; I listened to his steady breathing and the rhythm of his heartbeat. His hand was so big compared to mine.
“How do you do it?” he asked me.
I looked up at him confused, he was staring at me intently.
“Do what?” I asked.
“you smile and laugh, and make the people around you laugh. After everything you’ve been through…” he trailed off.
“I'm sorry about your sister” he told me. I took a deep breath and let it out, I nodded and bit my lip without thinking about it. I missed her. What I wouldn’t give to have her back.
“I'm sorry I didn’t tell you earlier” I told him and looked up at him, he gave one of his smiles and shook his head. He leaned across the table, slowly and placed his lips on my gently. He tried to pull back but I grabbed his face in between my hands and held him in place. He got up and went around the table never breaking our kiss he picked me up and sat me on the table.
He traced my bottom lip and I gave him dominance. For once. First and last time babe. Wink, wink, wink. I ran my fingers through his hair pulling him closer to me. I pulled back tugging on his lip with my teeth, his eyes were dark brown and slowly turning black. He hugged me closer to him, his hands wrapping around my waist. I reached up and kissed my mark he wore proudly on his neck, and he shivered.
“Jay” I questioned.
“yeah?”
“What's going to happen next?” I asked him.
“I mean what's going to happen next with our lives, how is this going to play out?” I asked.
“I don’t know, I was thinking we could get our own house” he told me.
“For what, what's wrong with where we live now?” I asked.
“you don’t think it's too small?” he asked me pulling out of the hug and searching my face.
“I like it, its small, it’s just the two of us, we don’t need something huge” I told him.
“But what if… it's not just the two of us?” he asked me.
“What. You mean like kids?” I asked.
“not any time soon, but maybe after you settle down a little bit in a few years” he told me. I pursed my lips, Jase knew how I felt about kids. We have had this conversation countless times, but Jase never said he wanted kids he just said there might be some in the future.
“Jase” I said like I did every time.
“every time I try to talk to you about kids you always change the subject” he told me.
“you really want to have this conversation in an interrogation room?” I asked him, he looked around.
“Not really” he told me and grinned.
“But I do want to have this conversation” he told me and kissed my nose.
“I know but we’ve had this conversation before” I told him looking at the floor.
