One Smile Please
Chapter Five:
"Do you not like me?" I asked curiously. And of course he ignored me. "Is there like something wrong with my face?" Nope, nothing... "Actually, is there something wrong with your mouth, like can you talk?" I questioned in aggravation, and earned a glare. "Okay, okay, jeez... Sorry."
Then I heard him mutter something, whilst tapping away at his keyboard, "That seems like the only thing you say these days, Miss Rae," Oh really? Well fuck you Mr Fraser.
"You know if you have a problem with me, you should just say it..." He looked up at me for a few seconds before looking back at his screen. I couldn't help it, I gave him my death glare, he aggravated me.
"Shouldn't you be working?"
"I can't, you aggravate me," I said without thinking, so I averted my gaze to my laptop screen instead.
"I don't even know why they put you in here,"
"Neither do I," It had been three days, me and my team decided the photos and now I was editing them, in Fraser's office, because apparently I wasn't allowed to work in my office or at home and there were no other free offices. Sure, sure.
I knew I was probably crossing the line by consistently insulting the guy, but I just couldn't resist. He was so unresponsive.
"Are you a workaholic?" No response, see told you. "Do you wear contacts? Do you have siblings? I don't, I wish I did... I would love to annoy the hell out of them... Do you have food?"
"Do you ever shut up?"
"I'm sorry..." I had an idea... "Can I put my headphones in, this isn't going to work otherwise." I said.
He studied me as if wondering if I was serious, I know I'm weird, I have a different way of working, "Whatever," Yay! I almost did a happy dance.
After half an hour of me bobbing my head back and forth whilst actually getting work done, some girl walked in.
"Mr Anderson is calling for you," she said, surprisingly to me. I nodded put my stuff together and followed her.
"Miss Rae, ah, what a pleasure," the man said smiling, causing me to smile back. "You must be wondering why I called you here," Uh-huh... "Well, I'm holding a birthday party for Cameron, and would like to invite you to it," I started panicking, "you and your team of course," I didn't stop mentally panicking, "because we usually do invite staff, and since you are working with us, we thought we'd invite you,"
"But,"
"No buts an invitation card should be sent to your houses," he said, "you can leave now, thank you," Well... wow. A rich people party, this should be... fun.
I walked back to Fraser's cabin and again did no work, I was busy thinking over the party invitation. I wouldn't know anyone there, and to be honest I only had a professional relationship with my team...
Besides this was Fraser's party, and I didn't really like him. I swear throughout the time I was starting into space, Fraser was looking at me, probably glaring as I wasn't working. Maybe I could go back to Mr Andersons, and tell him I couldn't make it... yeah I could do that... just tell him I am going to my friend's house in Italy... yeah that's not going to work. Ugh. Maybe tell him my, my cat died? And it needed a funeral.
"Do you even have a cat?" someone asked interrupting my thoughts. I was talking out loud wasn't I? I hate it when I do that.
I looked at him, "No, it died," I said truthfully, the fact that this was about ten years ago didn't really matter. I saw him roll his eyes and go back to his work.
