One Smile Please
Chapter Twenty Two:
*Charlie's POV*
I felt unbearable hunger the second my eyes fluttered open. It may be due to the fact I didn't eat anything yesterday...
Groaning I sit up but then see that my hand is attached to something. More like someone. I was holding Fraser's hand. Fraser was holding my hand. He looked so uncomfortable. Wait... where was I? I examined my surroundings. Was this Fraser's room? Okay... I'm in Fraser's room, no biggie. And he's sleeping on my hand. My stomach growled again, probably attempting to eat itself. I could seriously eat an elephant right now. But if I woke Fraser up we'd have the weirdest, awkwardest talk ever.I mean I hadn't spoken to him in a week!
Slowly and carefully I tried to get Fraser to let go of my hand. No success. He was literally holding onto it like a kid held onto its favourite teddy. It was the death grip. Should I tickle him... he'd probably let go of my hand right? And I could run out the second he does.... Okay maybe not. I sigh an slump back down.
Not a second later there's a knock on the door. What...?
"Uhm... come in?" I say softly, making sure Fraser wouldn't wake up. He must have such a sore back and neck.
A maid comes in holding a tray full of food. Oh god... I gulped as my tummy grumbles in appreciation. Then I see the maid trying to hold in a laugh at my expression. If I remember correctly, her name was Melissa.
"Sorry," I mutter sheepishly.
"It's okay. I'll just leave it here, so help yourself." She whispered back, placing the tray beside me.
"Thanks,"
I looked at the food. Then at Fraser. The food. Then back at Fraser. The guy was holding my right hand. And I was right handed. Great. I guess I could try using my left hand.
However before I got the chance to experiment, Fraser starts stirring. Suddenly I panic, pull my hand out of Fraser's harshly and jump off the bed ignoring the dizziness I felt.
"Damn... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep on you." Fraser mumbles. I'm surprised I understood any of that because it was literally a jumble of mashed up words.
"It-it's okay." I stuttered nervously.
"I mean... You were saying stuff and it just felt like you were having a nightmare and-"
"It's okay." I said with more force to get him to shut the fuck up. I didn't feel like having a conversation with Fraser right now. I had to get home.
From what I gathered, I fainted in the office... Obviously Fraser saw me and wanted to be the Good Samaritan so he bought me to his place. I think he also called a doctor.
Without another word I turn towards the door, but a sudden wave of weakness overtakes and I almost fall to the floor.
Almost because somehow I am now in Fraser's arms.
"You should probably take it easy." I nod, slightly startled at our close proximity. Fraser leads me back towards the bed and forces me to lay back down. "If you don't rest, I will get the doctor to give you sedatives again." He threatened.
"I was sedated?!"
"Yeah... Apparently you overworked your body and needed to get some rest, so the doc sedated you." He told me calmly whilst sitting back on his stool.
"Look Fraser, I need to get back home."
"No you don't. I called Jenny and told her about what happened the minute I brought you home. It was late so she said she'd come see you in the morning but I told her that when you recovered somewhat, I'd take you home."
