One Smile Please

Chapter Seventeen:

I don't know what I was thinking. Why did I go to Fraser in the first place? I knew this was coming sooner or later. Lexi had pointed it out! Then why was I so shocked?

Right now I was back at the office, I mean it was my first day and I couldn't really go home. I finished all of my work as quick as possible and managed to get home before Jenny had to leave for work. She had a late shift today which was why she was babysitting Cece till I got back.

"Hi Cece!" I greeted.

"Hey!" she screeched and came to hug me. Woah that was a first. "You seemed upset..." she explained. How... did she know?

"What don't tell me... you're psychic!" I say dramatically.

"No silly, you just sounded upset, plus Jenny said going to work makes everyone really sad." I rolled my eyes. Only Jenny would say that. Speak of the devil. She rushed downstairs and grabbed her things.

"Got to go! Bye!" she screamed running out of the door. Cece laughed at her as I joined in. Cece had settled in alot over the past few days. She had started doing things normal kids did like moan and laugh and I think she had finally startd to trust the people around her.

"So what did you do today?"

"Me and Jenny went to the park and it was so fun! I also made some friends." She replied animatedly.

"That's good." I spent the rest of the day with Cece. It was nice and it made me completely forget about Fraser.

I took Cece to her bed. "So you want me to read you a little more of Inkheart?" she smile mischievously.

"Yes please. I put it in the shelf Simon put up the other day." Cece giggled and I looked at her suspiciously. I muttered an 'okay' and went to get it, when I turned back around; Cece looked like she was going to cry from laughter.

"What?"

"Nothing..."

"Are you sure?"

"Yup." She said popping the 'p'. "Hurry up and sit down," she said with a massive grin. "Hurry!" Impatient much.

However I obliged but as I sat down, all you could hear was a massive fart that echoed against every wall of the room menacingly. Not even two seconds later Cece was laughing her head off so much that she actually fell off the bed. I got up and sure enough under the covers there was a whoopee cushion.

"Seriously?" I asked but I couldn't help the playful smile that was now plastered on my face. "Oh okay... now you've got to pay... and the tickle monster is her to collect!" I screeched and jumped over the bed to attack her. Although she managed to escape and started running downstairs. When I finally had her, I started tickling her and she screeched like a madwoman on crack. It seriously made my day. We went back upstairs and the exhaustion from all the running got to Cece as she fell asleep as soon as I tucked her in. She was a good kid.

About twenty seconds later Jenny came in. "Where did Cece get that whoopee cushion?" I questioned her as I plopped down on the armchair.

She laughed. "She pranked you with it?" I nod. "She's a great kid huh?"

"Yeah... Anyways, what are you doing?"

"Nothing... just finalising some stuff for the fashion show." She paused and looked up at me... "My model for the fashion show quit today..." she said excruciatingly slowly.

"Yeah so?"

"The show is in two days."

"Uhuh..."
