One Smile Please
Chapter Ten:
I was in a deep slumber, god knows where, when I heard some doorbell ring. Not long after I felt someone kicking me.
"Charlie! Go see who it is!" That was Simon.
"Can you shut the hell up please?" I murmur back, whilst throwing some cushions at him. Ow, my head hurts. I opened my eyes slowly and got up. Okay, we were in my house. My lounge to be precise. The doorbell rang again. Jeez who the hell was it this early in the morning? I staggered to the door and opened it, not even checking to see if I was decent.
Ah, the light, it burns. No seriously, I could feel it penetrating my eyes, even now that they were closed. I guess closing my eyes was kind of stupid as I couldn't see who was at the door. Hence I slowly opened them, and rested against the door frame to avoid tripping or falling. It was Fraser.
"Hi," he muttered. I looked at him, he wasn't wearing a suit or anything, in fact was wearing a fitted white t-shirt and blue jeans. As he said the word I winced because my head was still pounding.
"Hey," I mumbled back.
Fraser seemed to hesitate, "I heard you got fired," I nodded, then before he could say anything else I put my hand up.
"Please just shut up, come in, and give me a second to drug myself with some paracetamol, so that I don't feel like you're hammering my brain and we can actually converse," I felt rude, but I had a headache. I think Fraser nodded, but I didn't check as I walked into the sitting room where Simon had woken up, through to the kitchen to find some medicine. I swear you're meant to eat something beforehand. Oh well...
It wasn't long before Simon walked into the kitchen panicking. "Charlie! I am going to be late! I'm late! Shit! Fuck! I hate you Charlie!" he seethed, looking around for something. Probably his blazer. Suddenly a memory from last night flashed in my head. If Simon wanted his blazer... Well...
Simon seemed to have found it, "Charlie, what the fuck?" I stifled a laugh. I might've accidentally vomited on it, after we had gotten back.
"I'm sorry," I said whilst laughing my butt off. He just groaned and flew out from the house. What was the time anyways?
"It's one," Fraser said, and I almost jumped out from my skin. Shit I forgot that I had invited him in. Oh, no wonder why Simon was panicking. Wait, why didn't Jenny try to wake us up? Ignoring my thoughts I decided to look at Fraser.
"So Fraser, what have I done to be graced by your presence?" Fraser moved closer. And for some reason my heart beat accelerated considerably. Must be the painkiller. I knew I should've something beforehand.
"I was wondering if you wanted to, maybe join me for lunch?" he questioned. From his slight actions, like his tightened jaw and his averted gaze, I could tell he was nervous. I smiled at that. However at the same time I realised how close me and Fraser were, and instantly I stepped back.
"Yeah, sure... I'm just going to get..." I felt extremely distracted, "I'm going to get ready," I said, and then ran up to my room. I slammed the door and leaned against it. What the hell? My breathing was still dishevelled. Okay maybe I just need a shower.
After my shower, I got dressed, and headed downstairs. Hopefully that hadn't taken too long.
"Hey," I heard Fraser say, I let out a small laugh, I don't even know why. Maybe I was nervous. I mean going to lunch with your boss is scary. But he's not my boss. Never has been to be honest. Plus we went to a club together. We're friends! Why the fuck am I so nervous?! "Shall we?" He asked pointing towards the door. I gulped and nodded. And I thought he was nervous.
