Chapter 24

After a long train ride

You came out of the train to realize that you and Tsukishima were in an unfamiliar place. He grabbed your hand and started speed walking. You looked around as you passed by small crowds. 

Hm? It's sort of grassy here... What...

Moments later, the two of you came to a halt. You were in front of this small hill, with a big, leafy tree near the middle.

"Tsukki, where are we?" You asked curiously.

"Countryside."

"Wha-? I-isn't this too far?"

"I've been here already. C'mon." He said, smiling.

Holding hands, you went up the hill. On the top, it was very clean. No sign of fallen or dry leaves.

"Sit anywhere you like." He stated, putting down the bags of stuff you both bought. You sat near the tree, which was shady and cool. He sat next to you and took something out of the bag.

"You bought food? Tsukki, what're you planning..?"

"You'll see." He said, smiling a little.

As it became completely dark, the only light source was your phone, and the starry sky.

"The sky's beautiful, though." You said, staring at the sky.

"But there's something more beautiful than that." The blonde replied.

You blushed, but it faded away instantly.

"If you're going to copy that meme on the internet about how the stars are beautiful then how the other person says there's something more beautiful than that, forget it. I've seen it."

Smiling and holding in his laughter, he just looked at his phone and checked the time.

"Oh, it's time." He said.

"Time for wh-"

"Waaaaiiiit for it..."

"Tsu-"

"Wait for it..!"

He grabbed your phone and turned it off.

"Hey!"

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing."

He turned off his phone, and put it in between the two of you.

You stared at him in the dark, a questioning look on your face.

After a while, there was a small, flying light near the blonde's head.

"Tsukki, there's something on your head."

"You too."

You were surprised, and many of the small flying lights surrounded the two of you.

Fireflies.

"Tsukki, you brought me here because of this..?"

"You don't like it?"

"I-I love it! It's beautiful!"

He smiled widely and caught a firefly in his hands. 

"Aww, you have such a soft spot."

"S-shut up..." He said shyly, opening his hands to release the bug.

You played with the fireflies, catching them and letting them go like a little girl. You barely noticed that he stood up and went somewhere.

Moments later, you stood and looked around to find the tall blonde. He peeped from behind the tree, and saw you looking for him. You chuckled.

"Tsukiiiiiiiii. What're you doing there?"

He came out carrying something in his arms.

With the setting sun behind me on our way home, I'd walk a little distance behind you.

You are tall, so to match with your pace, my steps would always get a little bigger.

Tsukishima came out playing his guitar and singing. Surprisingly, his singing voice was amazing.

Once we've climbed to the top of this slope, that would be when we have to part.

You would look down, saying "Only a little more" .

And hold out your hand for me without looking me in the face...

You were absolutely speechless.

I fell in love with that simple happiness, even now those days remain a gentle memory in me;

If I'd just turn back, your hand would be right there for me, even now I still feel that way.

"T-Tsukki..." You started tearing up, the fireflies surrounding the big tree in between you and the blonde.

He put down his guitar and approached you. He wrapped his arms around you and hugged you tightly.

"I love you. I know I'm an asshole to you, and I tease you a lot and call you short...
Well, because you are. But, I just...  I just love you. I don't know how to explain this
feeling in my chest...Honestly, you don't really deserve me, but...Being here with
you right now... I feel so special.I'm in love. I'm loved... By someone amazing like you.
I love you, (Name)..."

Hearing these words from someone you knew who was cold and mean, it made your heart skip multiple beats.

You loved him too.

You hugged him back tightly and didn't let go for roughly 15 seconds.

"It's getting late. I'll take you home." Tsukishima whispered, slowly letting go of you.

"Thanks, Tsukki."

He smiled, and bent down to kiss you. You kissed back.

"Shall we go?" He said as both of you let go.

You nodded, and you two went home.

Best. Date. Ever.
