Chapter 14

"So what brings you two here?" You asked, gesturing to them to sit down on the couch.

"You didn't go to school today, and we were worried..." Yamaguchi replied, him and his blonde friend sitting down. "It wasn't really natural of you-"

"I just needed a break. Okay? I'm completely fine, see?" You interrupted, grinning. "Besides, even I have my lazy days too, ya know."

"You're always lazy." Tsukishima said, smirking. You rolled your eyes and walked to the kitchen. You took out some tea and poured them in 3 cups. Your mom woke up suddenly.

"Mom. You okay?"

"Yes, yes I am... I just need sleep."

"Go to bed, mom. You deserve it."

"Yeah, I do. Good night." She replied, walking out the kitchen and seeing your friends.

"Oh, Tadashi, Kei! It's been a while. How are you boys?.."

"W-we're doing good, ma'am..." Yamaguchi replied.

"Well, please excuse me. Make yourselves at home, okay?" Your mom stated, walking up to her room. You came out of the kitchen carrying a tray with the tea and a plate of biscuits. You placed them on the coffee table and sat down on one of the chairs.

"Why does this seem like some sorta meeting where the parents confront their child that she's adopted?" You said, and they laughed a bit. Yamaguchi brought out his notebooks, and set it on the table. He elbowed his blonde friend.

"What? You gave her your notebooks already."

"C'mon, Tsukki, there's homework." Yamaguchi said, picking up a biscuit and putting it in his mouth.

Tsukishima looked at you. With a straight face, he stated, "There's homework. Do it if you wanna graduate."

Yamaguchi choked, and you looked slightly worried. Tsukishima slapped his freckled friend's back and he stopped coughing.

You sighed.

"Look, guys... Thank you, but it seems you guys aren't... Okay... It's weird, I was only gone for a day!" You faked a laugh. The two boys looked at each other, then back at you. They seemed to be staring at your eye. You felt uncomfortable, and you stood.

"E-eh, thank you, guys. W-wait, what about practice?"

"As soon as we found out practice was cancelled, we rushed here." Yamaguchi replied.

"We have homework to finish too." Tsukishima said.

"Oh, yeah. (Name), may I use the bathroom before we go?"

You nodded, and told him where to go. He stood and went to the bathroom. You sat down and grabbed a cup of tea, and drank from it. It was just you and the guy you liked.

Silence.

"You've changed in 2 days, I'm amazed." Tsukishima said, breaking the silence. You put the cup down and leaned back.

"People change, Tsukki." You said, faking a smile.

" I wonder how long it'll take for you to hold all those feelings in for me," He teased. "We've been friends for a long time now. I wond-"

You stood up and slammed your hands on the table, startling the blonde.

"Listen, you dinosaur. Bad enough you rejected my confession, but that doesn't mean YOU have the right to mess with my feelings... And although you DID reject me, at least I don't have a heart as cold as ice, you bastard." You said, an angry expression on your face. His eyes were widened, and he was obviously surprised.

Yamaguchi came back, seeing you angry, and your hands still on the table.

"(N-Name)? Is something wrong?"

You and the blonde looked at your freckled friend. You stood up and headed towards the door, not saying a word. Tsukishima stood up, and Yamaguchi approached him.

"Tsukki, did something happen?" He asked. But he only looked away and headed towards the door as well, leaving questions in the freckled boy's head. The boys then went out the door.

"Thanks for letting us in,(Name)."

"No prob. Bye." You said, nodding and going back in the house. Before they could say anything, you already closed the door, leaning on it as you clutched your shirt. Your heart ached, and you felt warm tears roll down your cheeks.

Damn it. I should... Really move on.

"Tsukki, did something happen back there?" Yamaguchi asked his tall friend while walking home with him.

"It's nothing." He replied.

"Really? She looked really mad at you... You didn't do anything, did you?"

"I... I rejected her."

Yamaguchi stopped walking. "You WHAT?!"

"She confessed. I rejected her..."

"But, Tsukki-"

"I'm tired of this conversation, Yamaguchi."

"Tsukki-"

"Shut up, Yamaguchi."

"But-"

"Yamaguchi, I said I'm tired of this conversation. Shut up."

"...G-gomen."
