Chapter 33

"Nice receive!" A player shouted.

You were watching the team practice after school, and decided to wait for Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. The match between the schools was in just a few days now.

The team improved quite a lot, and you couldn't help but feel happy.

Aoba Johsai is a powerhouse school... It's also the school where the karate competition was held. I wonder what the volleyball team there is like...

As the team took a break, you decided helped the manager distribute water bottles to the players, but a girl with blonde hair helped her first. Yamaguchi started waving at you, which immediately caught your attention. He pointed at the girl with blonde hair. You gasped slightly and ran to him. Tsukishima went to you when you were with the freckled boy.

"Yachi Hitoka. Year one, class five. New manager in place of Shimizu-senpai." Tsukishima whispered, drinking from his water bottle.

"You stalker." You snickered.

You noticed Yamaguchi fiddling his fingers and staring at the short first year.

"She's really cute..." He mumbled, blushing. You and the megane looked at each other, then at the freckled boy. Filled with determination, you suddenly grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him towards the managers.

"(Name)?! W-what're you doing?!"

"Matchmaking." You said straightforwardly, Tsukishima jogging next to the freckled boy and taking his water bottle. Seems like he knows what you're planning.

"Make momma proud, boy! Ask her for a bottle!" You whispered, pushing him towards the first year. His sudden appearance must've startled her.

"Y-yes?" She said nervously. Yamaguchi kept stuttering words even you couldn't understand; so what the manager-to-be did was give him a water bottle.

"Here, you must be tired from all that practice, Yamaguchi-kun!" She stated, smiling widely. That made the freckled boy flush red and bow really low, thanking her. She chuckled and gave the other players the other water bottles.

Yamaguchi returned to you and the megane, face and cheeks tinted a deep red. Tsukishima snickered and you stifled a laugh.

"Yamaguchi, you literally look like a strawberry." You said.

"I-I do not! A-and don't do that again! I think I w-weirded her out..."

"You're not too weird, though." Tsukishima said blankly, putting the water bottle down. "You're just awkward; but that doesn't mean no one will like you for that, haha."

"I'll help you, okay? You'll never know! Maybe she'll like you back." You smiled. He smiled as well, and the two boys went back to practicing. But before going off, Tsukishima told you to go home and not wait for them anymore; it might worry your mom. You furrowed your eyebrows and he just raised an eyebrow back.

"I'll get mad at you if you don't go home before 6pm. After the match I will go home with you again, okay?" He uttered, kissing your forehead. It made you feel warm and fuzzy all over.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Tsukki. Now go forth, my beanpole! Practice with all your might!" You stated, throwing a fist in the air. He snorted, and pinched your cheek. "You're so weird."

"I know. But you love me."

"Sadly, I do. I'm madly in love with you, (Name)."

"Stop that, it's not like you. But since it's you, I'm gonna have to get used to that."

"No, you don't have to. I like to surprise you every now and then."

"J-just go back to practice, you tree."

He laughed. "Go home, you shrub. Be careful."

"F-fine. But later."

"6pm, hear me?"

"Whatever~!"
