Thank you for reading my story!
This was really long last time so I decided to keep it short.
Enjoy!
Hiccup was freezing as he sat on the park bench.
The icy Berk wind was at its worst, the frozen howls stinging his face.
He shuddered as he heard Toothless whimper, looking up at him with big puppy dog eyes.
He picked Toothless up and placed him inside his worn hoodie, reaching a frozen, colorless hand up to pull the tattered hood over his head; doing his best to stay warm in the wind and freezing rain that fell from the sky.
He shuddered again and pulled his legs up to his chest, trying to protect himself from the cold.
He heard footsteps approaching, looking up fearfully to see if Mildew had found him.
He was surprised by what he saw.

After school had gotten out Astrid, furious and annoyed, had wandered the halls trying to cool off as the students slowly started to head home. Having no luck, she walked out to her car, storming to the parking lot.
She got in her car and tried to start it, but the engine made a choking sound and died when she turned the ignition key.
"This is just what I needed." She growled, turning the ignition key once more and getting the same outcome.
She got out of her car and realized that no one was there to give her a ride home. She was going to have to walk. Putting on her warm gloves and pulling up her hood, she trudged towards the direction of his house.
She liked to pass by the park, so she headed in that direction. It was her happy place, always so calm and quiet. As the rain drenched her outer layer she felt bad for the people who had to live outside in these conditions.
As she neared the park, she saw a small shape huddled on a park bench and felt a twinge of guilt.
As she drew closer, she saw that the figure was trembling violently from the cold in nothing more than a thin, ratty hoodie, jeans, and battered old shoes. It was apparent he had been out in the cold for a while, looking at how he shuddered every time a wave of wind would hit him, shrinking into the bench.
She was within a few yards of him now, and when he look up she was surprised to see his sharp emerald green eyes stricken with fear and a dark bruise around one eye, his auburn hair falling across his head in every direction.
"Hiccup?" She asked, taken aback by his fearful form looking up at her.
He sighed, teeth chattering. "I'm n-not in the m-mood, A-Astrid. I d-don't c-currently f-feel like being m-made f-fun of." He said, burying his face in his knees.
She frowned and sat next to him on the park bench, making sure to keep a polite distance.
He didn't look up at her, he didn't look up at all.
She sighed and scooched closer, trying to figure out what to do. It was freezing, and though she hated Hiccup, she couldn't bear to see anyone suffer like this.
He looked up at her and frowned. "I kn-know you d-don't c-care, A-Astrid, so y-you don't h-have to s-sit here and p-pretend l-like you do." He murmured, teeth still chattering making it a little hard to understand him.
"Hiccup, I do hate you--" She got cut off by him.
"Th-thanks for m-making me f-feel so m-much b-better. H-here I w-was s-starting to th-think that s-someone m-might actually c-care about m-me." He spat sarcastically.
She sighed. "What I was trying to say, was that even though I hate you, I wouldn't want you to suffer like this, it's awful." she said, looking at him with worried cerulean eyes.
He shuddered as a fierce wind blew at them. "W-what are you e-even d-doing out h-here? D-don't you h-have a c-car?" He stuttered.
She sighed. "Wouldn't start. To be honest, I'm glad it didn't." She said and looked in his eyes.
He looked away.
She felt awful. She took off both her gloves and reached out to take his hands. They were like ice. She took her gloves and placed them in his lap. He looked up at her in surprise.
"I can't t-take these." He said, shocked.
"Why not? I gave them to you." She gently said.
He didn't respond, just put the gloves on.
"Th-thanks." He mumbled.
She heard a small bark come out of nowhere and looked around, then saw a small dog with green eyes poke its head out of Hiccup's hoodie.
"Is that a dog?" She asked curiously.
"Y-yeah. He d-doesn't have a h-home, and m-my dad w-won't let me h-have a dog. I w-was j-just s-staying with h-him, it's c-cold out h-here for a d-dog." He said, petting the dog affectionately.
"It's cold out here for a person, too." She pointed out.
He sighed.
"So the dog has nowhere to go?" She asked.
He shook his head.
"You two are very close, huh?" She said, looking at him.
"H-he's my b-best friend." He whispered.
"Hiccup, you probably will say no, but if you want, I can take the dog." She volunteered. "I already have a dog, and my family loves animals. You could come visit him whenever you wanted, and it would be better for him than living on the streets."
"R-really?" He asked hopefully.
"Sure." She said.
"Th-thank you, A-Astrid." He said, a small smile on his face.
"You're welcome. What's his name?" She asked.
"Toothless." He said.
She gave Hiccup her address and he gave her the dog, which she put inside her coat.
"Go home, Hiccup. It's cold out here." She said, knuckling his head lightly before getting up and walking away. Shivering but smiling, Hiccup headed home.
Sorry, I know it's short, I just wanted to break up the evening into two parts, so the next part will be out either today or tomorrow.
