A scream so horrid it could shatter glass erupted from the waves.
No one could tell if it was coming for Tuffnut or Hiccup, which made the suspense rise even more.
The world was lifeless as the scream echoed, the only thing moving was the rain continuously pelting out of the sky and landing on the sandy shore.
Even they seemed to freeze in everyone else's minds.
Hiccup was waiting in agony for his brain to catch up to the scream that had already registered pain.
He waited for 5 seconds until something happened.
He realized that the scream wasn't coming from his own mouth, which means it had to be coming from Tuff.
He looked to his friend who was standing a couple feet away, but he wasn't standing there anymore.
He wasn't standing there anymore.
"Tuff!" Hiccup yelled, looking desperately into the murky red water.
Then, he saw Tuff surface the water a few feet away, gasping for breath and screaming for help.
Hiccup waded over as quickly as he could without falling over, just managing to grab Tuff before he disappeared under the water.
He saw the shark latched onto Tuff's leg, ready to rip it in two.
Hiccup knew he had to do something, so he did the most stupid thing he could think of.
He dove into the shallow water, the salt stinging his eyes as he approached the shark.
He grabbed the shark's head, trying to distract it from Tuff and focus on him.
The shark wasn't budging, and Hiccup knew it was now or never. He grabbed the top and bottom of the shark's mouth and ignoring the searing pain from the sharp teeth, he pulled as hard as he could, trying to get the shark to loosen his grip on Tuff's leg.
He was starting to dizzy, and he knew he needed to surface or he'd drown in the shallows.
With one final attempt, he pulled as hard as he could and the shark's teeth loosened just enough for Tuff's leg to be able to slip through.
Tuff fell into the water, it seemed as though he was about to lose consciousness.
The shark had given up on Tuff and turned his attention towards Hiccup, clearly angry and smelling the sweet smell of blood.
Hiccup looked down at his hand which just happened to be leaking blood.
All of his fingers had been cut, some were threatening for the skin to fall off.
The pain registered in his body as the salt leaked into the nasty wounds, making it intolerable.
Before he realized what was happening, the shark attacked his shoulder.
