Btw they live on the coast. Where? I will not tell you because it destroys the magic. I shall just say, Berk.

Above is a picture of the beach I always vacation at, my favorite place in the world!!! Newport. So pretty!

~HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!~

Tuff and Hiccup are kneeling in the parking lot next to a girl they barely know who had collapsed onto the ground.

They were at a loss for what to do.

They stayed there for a good 20 minutes, and kids were slowly starting to trickle into the parking lot.

They couldn't have anyone asking questions, so they again tried to shake her awake.

"Astrid! Hey, Astrid?" Hiccup called, shaking one of her shoulders.

She bolted upright, making Hiccup scramble backward.

She looked around, searching for something.

"Jack?" She muttered.

Tuffnut and Hiccup exchanged a glance before Tuffnut turned his attention back to Astrid.

"Uh, Astrid?" Tuff poked her shoulder.

"Who are you looking for?" Hiccup asked, looking around to see if there was anyone else near them.

"No one." She whispered, and in an even quieter tone "No one alive anyway."

Tuff cocked his head in confusion.

"Who are you looking for that isn't alive?" Tuff asked cautiously.

"It's not important. It's not like I'll see them, right?" She asked, trying for a lame attempt at a joke.

Tuff just smiled, glancing up as she saw people approaching.

A girl with an appalled face came near.

Hiccup gave her his most devilish grin. "Hey, Paradox. How are you?"

Paradox glared daggers at the scrawny auburn-haired boy as she looked down at her friend on the ground.

"Astrid?! What are you doing with him? That's like, illegal or something!

She sighed. Paradox was a great friend but she always thought she had to sound like a dumb blonde around other people. She thought it made her more popular.

"I just fainted, Paradox. I'm fine."

"Oh my gods, you fainted?!" She shrieked.

"Could you lose the attitude, Paradox?" She regretted what she was going to say next but she felt that she had to. "It's only Hiccup. It's not like it's anyone important."

She didn't even look at Hiccup. She had a status to maintain.

Hiccup was hurt the instant she said it, though.

"Yeah, I mean, nobody cares about me, right Ast?"

"Whatever, shrimp." There was an awkward tension in the air as everyone tried to figure out something to say.

"Well, I for one am very curious as to where everyone else is." Tuff declared, looking around the empty parking lot.

As if on cue, the janitor came out of the building.

"What are you kids doing here? School's closed today because of the storm."

"But what about the buses that came today? They had kids on them." Astrid asked, confused.

"Took them all home. The weather's only supposed to get worse, and the buses can't drive in these conditions." With that information, the janitor walked off to his car.

"Seriously?" Hiccup and Astrid both complained at the same time.

Paradox frowned and began to walk away.

"Paradox? Where are you going?" Astrid looked at her friend.

"I'm not going to be caught with the class loser at school on a day when there isn't school, it would ruin everything I've built myself up to be!" She shrieked, turning on her heel and storming away.

Astrid rolled her eyes as her friend walked off and began to stand up.

Tuffnut and Hiccup both stood up, too.

"Hey, Astrid? You wanna ride home?" Tuff asked, walking back to his car.

She sighed. It was better than walking home.

The three of them got into Astrid's car and began to drive away.

"So, Astrid, where do you live?" Tuff asked.

She didn't feel like going home.

"Take me to the beach." Astrid said, looking out the window.

"Are you sure?" Tuff asked. "The weather isn't supposed to get any better."

"Just do it, Tuffnut." She muttered, looking out the window.

Tuff shared a glance with Hiccup before he shrugged and drove off towards the beach.

Once they arrived Astrid wordlessly got out of the car as the rain pelted down onto her, making her hair and clothes damp. She slammed the door and jogged down to the beach.

Tuffnut looked after her. "Who yacked in her mutton?"

"Who cares?" Hiccup said, looking out towards the beach.

"I guess. What do you want to do now?"

Hiccup shrugged. "I dunno."

Tuff gave a wicked grin.

"I have and idea or two..." He smirked and the drove into town.

~

Astrid stared out at the ocean feeling a sense of calm.

After a while that sense of calm turned into a sense of loneliness.

Astrid pulled out her phone and texted Heather.

Astrid/Heather

Hey Heather, watcha doin' on your day off?

Nothing. I'm desperate to get out of this house!

Wanna meet me at the beach?

When it's pouring rain?

Yeah.

Totally! I'll call Paradox, too! We can have a girl's day!

Great! I'll invite Ruff and see if she wants to come.

You should call her, then. She doesn't respond to texts.

Thanks for the tip! Want me to bring anything?

I've got a lot of snacks at my house and a tent for the beach, so we should be ready to go. See you in a bit!

Alright, cya!

Astrid, feeling much happier, tapped on her contacts and scrolled down till she found Ruffnut's name.

It rang twice before Ruff picked up.

Ruffnut speaking.

"Hey, Ruff? You wanna come with me and the girls to the beach? We're gonna do a little in-the-rain get-together!"

Yeah, that sounds great! What time?

"Well, I'm already here so you can come whenever you want!"

Alright! My brother took the car, so it may take a while to get there. See you soon!

"Cya!" I hung up and stared out at the waves, waiting for my friends so we could have a fun time.

I wrote more to this chapter, but then I split it in half.
