OMGMGMGMGMGMG I'm baaack!!! It's been forever my peoples!!!
I seriously considered letting this book go, and then I saw all your amazing comments (I had like, 3,000 notifications I haven't been on in so long {I read MOST of them}) as well as harrypanther voting, who is my favorite writer (or author) on Wattpad, and it nearly brought me to tears I was so happy. So, for this I give you another update.
And this girl said she based her book off of mine and I'm like awwwww, that''s so nice! I think her name was wings_of_spirit or something like that. (Sorry if I got it wrong) XP
Oh, and also, I've been on my deathbed so I haven't had a lot of time to write. I got in a car accident and it was pretty bad, but I'm alive with another update!!!
Thanks to all those who have left comments begging me to update, and I'm sorry it didn't come sooner!
10,000 reads is so amazing, I love you all so much! I never would have thought that it was possible.
My chapters should start getting better, I read and things and now know how to write better.
PROBABLY NOT in this one because it's currently like talking about a book you've never read, but you're writing it which is ten times harder.
After that unneccessarily long author's not, please (as I always say) enjoy!!!
Hiccup was jarred from his sleep to find Toothless walking across his chest and snuggling into his neck. "Hey, Toothless!" He whisper-yelled, laughing softly at the little mutt. "You're back!!!" He said excitedly. Toothless yipped and pounced on his chest, panting and wagging his tail like crazy.
Only, what should have been his tail was nowhere to be found.
He looked towards the entrance of the room, where a silent Astrid was watching cautiously. "What happened to him?"
"His tail was mangled to badly to save. They decided it would be better to remove it then to leave it on. I'm sorry, Hiccup." He shrugged absentmindedly, his gaze lingering on nothing in particular. She knew that he was having a hard time processing it.
She sighed and called Stormfly, turning to take the dog up to her room when Hiccup stopped her.
"Where are you going?" He asked quietly.
"I need to take Stormfly up to her room. She has a show that she needs to attend this weekend, and she has to be in prime condition." She explained.
Hiccup frowned. "I always thought dog shows were a little inhuman. Making dogs strut around in order to gain money and fame while the dog is starved is trained out of their wits."
Astrid looked thoughtful for a moment, then smiled slightly. "I suppose there are two sides of everything, wouldn't you agree?" She didn't bother to wait for a reply, simply turned on her heel and took her dog up the stairs.
Hiccup took a second to ponder that remark. If someone had said that to him just one week (It has only been one week, right? I really should read this book...) ago, he wouldn't have put much thought into it at all. But now, sitting in the most popular girl at school's living room after she just saved his dog and smiled at him, (weird) he took a little more meaning into it. He'd always thought of her in a single way, never thought she might be kind or considerate. Now, he wasn't sure what to think. Perhaps that was the way of all life's encounters, even the people you hate have their own story to tell.
He knew he sure did.
He was still contemplating its meaning when Astrid came down the stairs. He couldn't think of how a dog show might be good for dogs, but he decided he might as well ask.
"Hey, Astrid, what's so great about dog shows? I don't have a clue. It seems rather petty if you ask me." Toothless barked as if in agreement, and Astrid laughed.
"It looks like I'll have to prove both of you wrong. Where other people see the things that you see, I see hope. These shows and pageants have made new homes for dogs around the world. Someone who might not have wanted a dog but likes them, perhaps, comes to our shows and sees how amazing it is to actually own a dog. At every show we've been to, strays are sold to new homes and are almost always gone by the time the crew is done packing. it's giving them a chance to get noticed by people who never noticed them." Hiccup considered this. He hadn't known that part.
"I guess you're right, Astrid. I guess there are two sides of everyone." He realized his mistake after he'd made it, and she seems to realize it, too.
She picked at the couch, averting her gaze. "I'm sorry, Hiccup. I know I've been horrible to you in the past, and I have no excuses for what I've done. In fact, I had the same one-sidedness (that's a word, right? Oh, right I keep interrupting. Sorry, sorry, carry on.) that you did. I thought that you were a parasite and a menace to society, but it turns out I was wrong. You're a good guy, and I was wrong to judge you. Until now I thought my friends were good people, but it turns out I was wrong about that, too."
He sighed. He hadn't felt this content in a long time.
"It's weird, being here. You and I, we're polar opposites. But in some ways, I guess we're not so different."
Astrid laughed again. "You think it's weird for you? Try living in my shoes."
He knew she hadn't meant it that way, but he couldn't help her words from stinging. He was thought down on by so many people, it almost hurt for her to feel the same way.
Before he could stop himself, a snarky reply slipped from his mouth and tumbled to the ground.
"I could never live in your shoes, princess." He snapped angrily. He didn't really mean it, but he was tired of being treated like yesterday's trash.
Her eyes widened slightly, then narrowed to slits. "What's that supposed to mean?" She asked accusingly.
Normally he'd take this perfect chance to stick his foot in his mouth, but today he decided that he might just try being humbled and see how it felt. "Sorry, I'm just tired. And being offended makes me mildly snarky and defensive." He admitted.
She seemed to understand that he'd meant no harm, and smiled. "Mildly?"
"Mild for me." He shrugged, snuggling into Toothless and closing his eyes.
"Night, Hiccup." He could hear her get up and go upstairs, but he didn't protest. There was less of a chance of him getting kicked out if Astrid and him were as far away from each other as possible.
He hoped, at least, as he sunk into unconsciousness.
Technically you're not unconscious when you sleep but I don't feel like finding a different word.
It's kind of short for me but at least I'm back at all, right?
Please vote and comment my lovelies!
Thanks!
