Misaki stepped foot onto the academy grounds and gazed in awe at the towering school gates.
"Wow, they must've built this to be imposing on purpose, not to mention those electric fences on top of the brick wall," she muttered, continuing to stare.
Their car pulled into the vast academy grounds, and Misaki couldn't help but notice the numerous trees lining the road, making it seem like a forest. She pondered exploring the entire campus.
The ride was quiet, and they eventually arrived at the elementary school section, reaffirming the academy's enormity.
Now seated in the school building, Misaki played with her fingers, bored and alone.
"They're really taking their time," she grumbled, frowning.
Suddenly, a cheerful, blonde man in his twenties entered the room, startling Misaki.
"What a pretty girl! You must be Mina's kid," he said with a broad smile, which caught Misaki off guard. She bowed politely.
"Thank you. I inherited it from both of my parents. Yes, I am Mina's daughter. How did you know?" she replied. The blonde man flashed a friendly smile, revealing his perfect teeth.
"I knew that, silly. She was a friend. You're like a younger version of her, but even more adorable," he commented, playfully squeezing her cheeks.
But then, his expression changed suddenly, and he looked alarmed. Misaki was puzzled by his abrupt shift in demeanor.
"What's the matter?" she asked, tilting her head.
"Ah, it's nothing. I'll be back in a moment. I've asked a close friend to bring you some snacks while you wait," he said, patting her head before hurrying out of the room.

When the blonde man dashed out, I slumped back on the couch and sighed. I missed my mother, her home-cooked meals, and being with her. I didn't want to meet more people; I just wanted to go back home.
I was advanced in my studies because I had spent my life taking numerous lessons at home to keep myself occupied.
Deep in thought, a man entered the room and asked, "Misaki?" I nodded in response. He placed a tray of biscuits, a pot of hot chocolate, bowls of marshmallows, and rainbow sprinkles on the table. He poured me a drink, which I gratefully accepted.
"Thank you, um, sir," I awkwardly thanked him.
"Misaki, it's strange, but we're both named Misaki," he chuckled lightly. This sensei had a good sense of humor.
"That's nice," I giggled and sipped my drink.
Suddenly, we saw a flock of birds flying by. There were many of them.
Misaki sensei sighed and massaged his forehead.
"What's wrong, sensei?" I asked, puzzled. He frowned.
"It's that Narumi again. He stole another bean whip from my greenhouse. Excuse me, Misaki, I need to go," he said and rushed out of the room.
Who was this Narumi, anyway? Well, I thought to myself as I sipped my drink; it was clear I was still alone in the room after an hour, and the pot and biscuits were empty. I was hungry and bored.
"What am I doing here?" I mumbled. I wished they had brought some instruments or books to pass the time.
"Misa-chan," the blonde man suddenly returned, carrying a boy in a school uniform with a black cat mask. A girl with brown pigtails followed. She wore casual clothes.
