Inside the classroom, the students sat in silence, intently listening to their stern teacher, Jinno-sensei. His lightning-based alice made him infamous for his strict demeanor, striking fear into the hearts of many. He was nothing short of a terror teacher.
Amidst the hushed classroom, Misaki sat attentively beside Ruka, while Natsume appeared to be engrossed in a book but was, in fact, sound asleep. Seated between Ruka and Natsume, Mikan's earlier conversation with Ruka about the school targeting her had left her feeling distracted and disheartened. She let out a heavy sigh.
"New girl, you seem quite distracted in my class," Jinno-sensei suddenly remarked. Mikan jolted upright, panic and embarrassment washing over her. Being declared a "no-star" had been humiliating enough, but she feared what might happen next.
"Even as a 'no-star' holder, it seems I can't curb your rebellious attitude," the teacher ominously declared, his wand emitting a faint spark. Mikan's eyes widened.
"Miss Ashikaga and Mister Nogi, please step out of your seats," he ordered, and they complied. Mikan felt a growing sense of unease; she knew what was coming.
Misaki glanced at Mikan, a look of concern on her face. Suddenly, there was a loud zap that echoed through the room. Mikan tumbled out of her chair and landed on the floor.
"MIKAN!" Inchou exclaimed, rushing to her side and helping her to sit up. The room buzzed with conversations, some students believing she deserved it, while others pitied her.
"My alice is extremely effective in disciplining imbeciles like you," Jinno-sensei coldly remarked. Mikan felt weak and gasped for breath. Meanwhile, Misaki turned to Hotaru, who held up a small mirror and signaled her intent to toss it to Mikan.
"I despise people who disrupt the natural order the most. There was once an individual with the same alice as yours, and just like a fool who defied the natural order, they couldn't find peace in the end," Jinno-sensei explained.
"Let's hope you don't meet the same fate. I'm sure you'd like to use your alice to attack me, wouldn't you?" he asked Mikan with a serious expression.
"Interesting... Tobita, step aside!" he instructed Inchou. Hotaru tossed the mirror to Mikan, who caught it swiftly.
Another zap resounded, but this time, Mikan emerged unscathed. Jinno-sensei was left stunned and soon lost consciousness. It turned out to be Hotaru's invention, a reflecting mirror that repelled and attacked the attacker.
"Run, Mikan! Get out of here before he wakes up!" Misaki shouted as she crouched beside their unconscious teacher. Hotaru grabbed Mikan, who was shocked and together, they made their escape.
Concerned students remained behind in the classroom, wondering about their next steps. "Let's call a teacher," Misaki suggested. Two students promptly dashed outside to fetch a teacher.
Misaki, in the meantime, examined the unconscious teacher. "It seems he's in a deep unconscious state. Based on his bruises and condition, he should regain consciousness in four to five hours," she reported.
She began to employ her water-based alice. As her hands hovered over Jinno-sensei, they emitted a soft, red light.
"What is she doing?" the students whispered among themselves. Natsume, who had been dozing off but was now awake, observed with widened eyes. He knew the consequences of Misaki using her powers.
"His bruises will heal rapidly," Misaki declared. Her water alice could heal, injure, or defend. It had no restrictions on where it could be used, but her lifespan shortened the more she used it and the greater the power she exerted.
