{Misaki}

As we entered the place, it appeared to be some sort of office. Natsume still had a firm grip on my hand.

"Uhm, you could let go now. Thank you," I mumbled. He sighed and released his hold. We entered a room that seemed like an office or meeting space.

"Natsume, you'll be working with Misaki on this mission," Persona declared, and we remained silent.

"An order is an order, and you must not fail," Persona continued, his tone stern. But what kind of mission was this?

"Annihilate the enemies at all costs, and it doesn't matter if you die. The mission always takes precedence over your life," he added with a wicked smirk. I gasped, utterly taken aback by the callousness of his words.

"We'll sacrifice our lives for...," I began to say, but Persona interrupted me.

"Little girl, I understand this is shocking. But if you disagree or disappoint me, I'll have no choice but to punish you," he said, displaying a red panda mask, the same kind of punishment mask that Natsume had worn before.

"Wouldn't you prefer to avoid countless headaches or suffering punishment for disobedience?" he threatened before putting the mask away.

I heard Natsume growl in response. Frightened, I shook my head. "I... no," I replied.

"Good. Misaki, you have a powerful Alice. I just hope you understand its full potential," Persona said with a smirk, his malevolence evident.

This guy was cruel. My mother used to be involved in these types of operations, which was the reason she never wanted me to attend this school. As long as they didn't discover the extent of my abilities beyond being a Water Alice user, I would be safe here. For now, at least.

After some more explanations, we were led somewhere else, a waiting room perhaps. Persona had ordered us to eliminate a group of enemies because they opposed the ESP.

We waited for about an hour, and darkness began to set in. We were then driven to a foreboding-looking building.

"Remember what I told you," Persona's eerie voice echoed in my ears.

Natsume and I stepped out of the car and entered the building. I was feeling uneasy and fearful.

"Let's start from the top," I suggested, trying to sound confident. Natsume glanced at me, realizing that I had figured out that he was involved in these covert operations for the principal.

He followed my lead but reminded me, "Don't overexert yourself, or you'll feel unwell." We began ascending to the top floor discreetly.

When the enemy forces noticed us, they shouted, "Intruders!" and came rushing out of rooms, armed with firearms.

"They're from Alice Academy!" one of them yelled. Their weapons were unlike anything I'd seen in movies, likely specialized for use against Alices.

"See their weapons? If you're hit by those, it could temporarily disable your Alice," Natsume scoffed as he glared at them.

I nodded in comprehension. We prepared ourselves for the encounter.

Standing at the stairs, the armed enemies began charging towards us. I unleashed a semi-large wave to push them further away from us.

"Don't push yourself too hard," Natsume muttered. I looked at him, and he appeared genuinely concerned.

"Hmm," I responded.

He then created a fire, causing the sprinkler system to activate. Yet, standard water couldn't extinguish his fire, and the lights on the upper floors exploded. The fire began to rapidly engulf the enemies, burning them alive. Moments later, it began to spread to lower floors, consuming everything in its path. I manipulated the water temperature from the sprinkler system, making it too hot for them, further scorching their skin. I couldn't help but feel guilty about it.
