This was not the life I meant for me.
I thought that I could choose to leave.
My intent was meant to set you free.
Instead you chose to capture me.
I tried to run away before it was too late to find the escape.
But you had a secret beyond this place.
It didn't take long before you pushed me away,
to make me realize that all along you already had plans to stay.
I couldn't leave you there alone.
After everything you put me through,
That house could never remain a home.
The more you tried to convince my broken heart that you couldn't survive without my love,
Not after all of these years,
Only made my blood run cold as I distanced the pain from the fears.
I knew I needed to get out from the moment you pulled me under with you.
But It got lonely in that room at night and that's when I first knew.
Your soul had already been stolen and I was too naive to see through you.
You stopped loving me long ago,
but even your own eyes couldn't see the truth.
You became prey to what you thought was your decision.
It's a shame that you couldn't think clearly anymore to realize that it's too late now to win this.
Once the blade is set on the table you can't just walk away from the incision.
You caved under pressure and it sent you to hell.
But you refused to be alone so you grabbed my hand as you fell.
Now I'm not even trying to find a way out.
I'm in love with the pain.
You know me so well.
But I need you to hear that I already resent you.
This didn't play out the way it was meant to.
This was not the life I meant for me.
I thought that I could choose to leave.
My intent was meant to set you free.
Instead I let you suffocate me.
