Xiumin
As I walked to the library with Mary, I couldn't stop thinking about Baekhyun's harsh words. This was the first time I had ever talked to him and he was pretty rude but I have to admit, it was the truth. Everything he said was true. Even if I denied it, I know deep down inside it was the truth.
FLASHBACK
I stood there in the hall with regret as I watched Baekhyun walk away but I suddenly had the urge to ask a question that had been bugging me ever since he stormed out the cafeteria which was only moments ago.
"Do you like her?" I say and he stops. He stiffens and slightly turns to me with a confident smirk.
"So what if I do," he says with a shrug. "It's not like you can stop me."
I watched as he walked to his next class and I stood there in the hall all alone. I was angry that he confronted me so suddenly like that but I also felt afraid. Afraid that my secret would be out. I'm such a coward. I should've never lied. Now look at the mess I've created just because of jealousy. Jealousy really can do crazy things to a man.
END OF FLASHBACK
"Xiumin?" Mary says and we both stop walking.
"Yes, what is it?" I say and she looks at me with furrowed eyebrows.
"Are you okay?" She says worriedly and lifts the back of her hand to my forehead but I catch her hand into mine, stopping her from doing what she was about to do. I intertwine our hands and look at her with an assuring smile.
"I'm fine. Don't worry. I'm just stressed about finals," I say but she still looks at me worriedly.
"Are you sure? You've been zoning out all day. If you're tired we can just cancel and meet up tomorrow, if that's what you want."
"It's okay. Let's go," I say whilst swinging our hands.
We walk past different food stores and I offer to buy some for Mary but she declines and we keep on walking. We walk past Truc's sister's fried chicken store which immediately caught my attention. My eyes averted to two students who are wearing the same uniform as me and I instantly know it's Truc and Hoseok. They really are dating. They're sitting across from each other and they're both laughing but she's pushing him away so that he would go away. I wonder why.
I look at Mary and she keeps taking quick glances at a certain store which is full of different girl things. I suddenly get an idea and start dragging her towards the store.
"What are you doing? We should be studying," she whines and I chuckle as we stop in front of a box of different jewelleries. Even if I don't love or like her, I should at least treat her like she's my girlfriend, right? I know it's wrong and that I'm just playing with her but wouldn't she want good memories of her first love?
"Pick one," I simply say and she looks at me weirdly.
"What's the special occasion?" She says as she looks at the different bracelets.
"Nothing, just felt like it," I say as I too looked at the different accessories. Who knew there could be so many different designs for a girl to wear?
I see her observing a bracelet that I think she likes. I could just tell by the way she looked at it that she would be happy to wear this. The bracelet has a silver chain with three hearts in the middle. It was cute.
"You want this one?" I say and she smiles.
"It's nice but you don't have to buy it," she says and I shake my head and take the box out of her hand and go to pay for it before she stops me.
"Really, you don't have to waste money on me. Your company with me satisfies me enough," she says and I start to feel regret about doing this to her.
"I'm not wasting my money," I say and go pay for it quickly before she stops me, again.
We walk outside the store and I put the box into my bag and we start walking off to the library again. It was quite cold so I held her hand and put it into my pocket. I noticed she didn't have a scarf and I knew she would get cold so I stopped and took my scarf and wrapped it around her.
"What are you doing? You're going to get cold," she says as she holds my face, worriedly.
Since my scarf was so big it had wrapped around 4 times and had covered her nose and mouth. I hold her face and smile brightly.
"Cute," I whisper and I did mean it. She blushes slightly and intertwines our hands together.
"I don't want you to get sick because I'll get worried," I say and she shyly smiles.
We reach the library and we sit at a table. We sit across from each other and put our bags onto the seat next to ours. Even though there was a heater in the library it was still extremely cold so we kept our coats on. We pulled our books out and I began to tutor her. This reminded me about times when I would help Truc study and I missed the feeling of sitting next to her on the floor with our textbooks out and our small pen fights we had but I knew it was over. I will never be able to experience the same feeling with Mary. She was quite bright and picked things up quickly which made my job easier. Truc was very different to her. She would always end up arguing with me over who's right even though she knew I was right but she never wanted to lose. She would always want the last word.
"There. Do you understand that now?" I say and she nods.
"Yeah. Thanks," she says and we continue on studying.
It had been an hour and a half before Mary suddenly got a call from her father about telling her to meet up with him in the city to eat out.
"I'm sorry Xiumin that I have to leave like this. I'll make it up to you," she says as we wait at her bus stop.
"It's fine. I don't mind. When's your bus coming?" I say and she pulls out her phone and check the bus times.
"10 minutes," she says. "You don't have to wait with me either."
"It's fine. Stop worrying. Plus its cold so I'll stay here to keep you warm," I say as I hold both her hands in mine. I suddenly remember the bracelet I bought earlier. I pull my hands away and she looks at me puzzlingly. I pull out the box and she makes an 'o' with her mouth. I pull her to a bench and I open up the box and pull out the bracelet. I hold her wrist and put the bracelet on. The three hearts sat on her wrist and I smiled.
"It's pretty, you made a good choice," I say and she laughs quietly. We sit on the bench in silence as we waited for her bus.
An old woman walks over to the bench and I stand up to offer her my seat. Mary starts to get up but I softly push her down so that she would keep seated. I walk around the bench and stand behind her and hold her shoulders.
"Thank you," the old woman says and I smile at her.
"It's fine. I wouldn't want you stand too long in the cold," I say and the woman chuckles.
"You have a good boyfriend," she says to Mary and Mary laughs and holds my hand.
The bus comes and Mary gets up to leave. I give her a quick peck on the cheek and she leaves. I begin walking home and I walk past Truc's sister's store, again. I stand in front of the store and my eyes widen. Truc was sleeping at a table whilst Lynh and Hoseok were chasing each other around the stores. The streets were quiet so I could hear Lynh and Hoseok laughing and screaming. I was confused when I saw Hoseok suddenly wrap his arms around Lynh. What was he to her?
Truc woke up probably from the amount of noise they were making and looked at the two. She didn't look heart broken or anything. She didn't look upset with them. Her so-called 'boyfriend' had her arms wrapped around her sister and she wasn't doing anything.
Hoseok suddenly pulls her closer and leans his head on her shoulder whilst smiling brightly. Why was he smiling? What was going on?
The next few words that leave his mouth left me shocked. He had said those words quite loudly enough for the whole world to hear.
"She knows we're dating so she has to get used to it."
