Chapter 33

Xiumin            

So all this time I thought Truc and Hoseok were dating but he was actually dating Lynh? The girl I saw with whilst walking to school was Lynh and the girl at Chatime was her? How did I mix the two up? They look similar but I know there's a difference. I was just too blind to see it. 

I decided to try calling her whilst walking home but she never picked up. I called her a second time but it said she had turned off her phone. Is she ignoring my calls? Well why wouldn't she. I've been ignoring her so it makes sense to do that but I really need to talk to her. I need to explain everything to her. I misunderstood everything and ruined our friendship.

I walked into the house and saw my mum on the couch whilst talking on the phone.

"Don't worry. Everything will be okay. Your daughter is just going through a phase right now. She will come back soon. She just needs some time to think," she says. It goes silent for a bit which I assumed meant the other person was talking.

"She won't hate you. You're her mother. She will understand," she says.

"Okay go rest. I'm sure she will come back."

"Okay see you tomorrow," she says and hangs up the phone.

"Who was that mum?" I ask and she looks at me sadly.

"Truc's family is in a bit of a mess right now," she says and my eyes widen. Was the daughter that ran away, Truc? Why would she run away though?

"What happened?" I say and go sit next to her on the couch.

"Truc's grandma just passed away and Lynh was mad that her parents didn't tell her that she was sick so she ran away," she says. So it was Lynh, not Truc? Truc must be devastated right now. They both must be. Their grandma was everything to them and now she's gone. They really did love her very much.

FLASHBACK TO 8 YEARS AGO

Truc was finally coming back from her long holiday at her grandma's house. I was so excited to see her again but it was odd that she was there for longer than usual. She usually would come back after a few days or a week but this time she had stayed there for a lot longer. I wonder why. I should ask her when I see her.

My mum and I decided to visit them later in the afternoon. We went to their house and I started to feel nervous to see her. Why am I nervous though? It's just Truc but I haven't seen her in ages and I missed her so much.

My mother knocked on their door and seconds later the door flew open to reveal Truc's smiley face.

"Xiumin!" she screams and runs over to hug me. I wrap my arms around her and start to feel happier to see her.

Her parents came out after surprised to hear Truc screaming. They see us and welcome my mother in whilst the two of hug.

"They're so cute," I hear Truc's mother says. The parent's laugh together as they go into the kitchen.

"I missed you," she says and I start to feel shy.

"I-I missed you t-too," he stutter as I start to feel my cheeks turn bright red.

"C'mon I've got to show you something," she says she grabs my hand and pulls me into her house.

We walk to her room and we walk past Lynh who's lying on the bed whilst reading. We go into her room and she shows me a red rock and a blue clear rock. She hands me the blue one and I look at her weirdly.

"Here, this is for you," she says we both sit lay on her bed.

"My grandma took my sister and I to some beach near her house and when we were there, there was an old woman selling all these cool stuff," she says and I look at the rock. "So my grandma bought us some and instantly thought about buying you."

"Thank you. I like it very much," I say and she giggles.

"Why were away for so long though?" I say with a pout and Truc pinches my cheeks softly whilst giggling at my face.

"I don't know why but I loved staying there. I was sad that we had to leave. Grandma made everything so much fun when we were there. I wished we stayed a bit longer," she says. " I wished you were there. I told my grandma all about you and she said you sound like a good boy."  I laugh and we both lie on the bed whilst looking at our rocks.

"I miss grandma so much already. I can't wait to see her again. Lynh looked like she was about to cry when we were leaving and I wanted to cry too. I wish we could be there again," she says with a pout and I hold her hand to make her feel better.

"I've got an idea. Why don't we live there when we're older? We could live with grandma and visit the old lady who had the small shop. We could do everything there. Grandma would love that idea. Xiumin why don't we move there when we're older? Please?" she says as she holds my hand with both of her hands and uses puppy dog eyes. Of course I fell for it.

"Okay. Let's move there once we get out of big school and live with your grandma," I say. She smiles brightly and squeals.

"Pinkie promise?" She says while putting her pinkie out. I put my pinkie out and connected out pinkies together.

"I promise."

END OF FLASHBACK

"Anyways, let's go to bed. You have school tomorrow," my mother says while sighing and getting up from the couch. I go off to my room and lie on my bed thinking about that promise we made. A promise we can never do because I ruined everything.

I jumped off the bus and walked into the school with Mary and saw Truc at her locker. I wanted to go up to her and talk about everything to her but I couldn't. I couldn't go up to because I felt so nervous. I bet she doesn't want to talk to me.

"I need to go get ready for class so I'll see you later," Mary says and I gave her a small smile.

I suddenly got an idea and quickly ran to my locker to grab some paper and a pen.  I opened my locker and wrote a quick note to Truc to meet up with after school. I slid it into her locker and hoped for the best.

I really hope I can fix this mess that I've created. Jealously blinded me to see the truth that was in front of me.
