Annie's POV
I smiled eagerly at Alex, as we left the hospital. Today was the end of the horrid chemo, and I was feeling pretty good. " So I take it by the way your smiling, that you are one happy, relieved woman." Alex said returning my smile.
I nodded my head, " You know I was thinking, it would be nice to see Becca before you go back to work." I batted my eyelashes at him, he would be returning to work next week and Becca was at her parent's summer house in Florida.
" That's a pretty long drive," He said looking at me intently.
" I know, but I haven't been to the beach in forever, and we could stay a few days she wouldn't mind." He sighed resignedly, and I jumped up and down excitedly.
" You know, sometimes it's hard to believe your a grown woman!" He said laughing and shaking his head.
" Yeah, but you love me anyways." I shot back.
" Yeah, your right I do!" He helped me into the car, and we drove to see my parents. I knocked on the door, and was surprised when my brother opened it. He pulled me into a bear hug.
" Luke!" I squealed happily, he set me down gently and shook Alex's hand.
" Alex, it's good to see you again. Annie what's up?" He asked, guiding us into the living room.
" Just wanted to come see mom and dad for a while, I think the question brother is what are you doing here!?" I asked grinning.
" Shh... I'm taking a week off from work, mom and dad don't even know I'm here. I think dad had a meeting with some of the deacon's and mom tagged along." I took in what he was saying, so he was off a week, and Alex and I were going to make a trip to Becca's guest house. So this would be the perfect opportunity to get them together.
I put a slim arm around my brother's waist, and turned my large blue eyes to his. " Oh no what's that face for?" He asked groaning. I gave him an innocent shrug.
" I just thought that maybe, you would like to come with me and Alex to Florida for a few days. You know relax by the beach, have a few drinks, maybe do a little dancing?" He looked at me thoughtfully, Alex was about to say something and I shot him a deadly glare. He looked confused for a brief moment, but let it drop.
" So what do ya say?'' I asked sweetly. He shrugged grinning at me.
" What the heck, sure as long as it's alright with Alex. I mean I don't want to be like the third wheel or anything." He looked at Alex, who shook his head and mumbled only loud enough for me to hear.
" No need to worry about that brother, you won't be." I shot him another look, daring him to tell Luke that we were going to Becca's parent's guest house. Luke was a tough egg to crack, I knew he secretly had some feelings for my best friend, but for some reason he would rather die than admit it.
" So cool, we'll be leaving tomorrow morning, we'll pick you up say around seven?" He nodded giving me a warm smile.
" I'm glad we will be getting to spend some time together sis, I've missed you." I hugged him tightly, we were going to wait for mom and dad to come home, but it was taking them forever so we left to go eat dinner.
On the way out to the car Alex gave me an inquisitive look, " Why didn't you mention we would be staying with Becca?" I gave him a sly grin, and shrugged one delicate shoulder.
" I knew he wouldn't come, Luke pretends he's not interested in Becca, but I know different." He pursed his perfect lips.
" Is that so?" He asked, I gave him enthusiastic nod. He shut my door laughing, and walking around to get in.
