Annie's POV
I woke up with a terrible headache, I hadn't slept very well for worrying about Alex. He never did call me back, and he had to have known by now that I was beyond worried. I looked at my phone, nope nothing. Sighing wearily, I got up and changed into jeans and a sweat shirt.
I pulled on my tennis shoes, and made my way down to the kitchen. I stopped in my tracks at the door, my mom looked up from the young woman she'd been talking to. " Oh there you are honey, you have a guest." She said smiling back at the girl.
I felt my gut clench, if I had already eaten this morning it would have come up in that moment. The girl didn't have to turn around for me to know who she was, but just as I thought that, she did. Her dark familiar brown eyes met mine.
They were also the same dark eyes that met mine, the day she was half naked and kissing all over my ex boyfriend. What I couldn't understand is why she was here, and waiting for me? My mom could sense the tension in the room, she glanced between the two of us nervously.
" Well um... I'll just leave you two, to it then." She said getting up, and quietly exiting the room. I sat down in the chair across from Olivia, with a loud thump. An uncomfortable silence settled over us, so me being the person I am decided to break the ice.
" Come to ask for forgiveness?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest. .
" Actually, no. I came to see how your doing." She said in a snooty voice.
Her response to my question had taken me aback, she never cared before, why now? " I'm doing okay, I guess." I said cautiously, not giving anything away
I remember telling my brother that she still picked her boogers, and we were in middle school! He didn't want anything to do with her until the year she and I graduated from high school.Olivia had, had a grudge against me since middle school.
She had always had a crush on my brother, and when she found out the reason he'd never asked her out was because of me she'd made it her life's mission to ruin mine. I had never understood it really, I mean how can one little slip up change two people, from being the best of friends to sworn enemies?
" How's Luke doing?" Her eyes held sadness when she asked about Luke, and for the first time ever I could actually see that maybe, just maybe she had cared about my brother somewhat.
" He's doing great, we went to the beach about a month ago. He said he needed a break from reality for a week." She smiled softly, tears present in her eyes. She looked out the window, and gave a wistful sigh. I could tell by her spaced out face, that she was lost in a memory of herself and Luke.
I could almost feel sorry for, almost. She snapped out of her trance like state, and turned her attention back to me." Annie, I do have a reason for coming here today." Oh boy, here it comes. The sob story of how she needs my help getting my brother back, well he was off limits to her and anyone else, except for Becca of course.
" I was asked by a friend to bring you this. " She said, handing me a small package. I took it from her, looking over the words written on it. 'Please Open, for Annie Miller ONLY', I looked at her confused.
" Who asked you to bring this to me?" I asked, turning the package over in my hands. I looked at it puzzled, why in the world would anyone ask Olivia, of all people to deliver a package to me?
" I can't say, I'm sworn to secrecy. I will say this though, he told me to tell you he wanted you to be safe and think twice." She stood up, grabbing her purse. I looked up at her, still confused. Then realization set in, she spoke the same words Randy had at the diner yesterday.
