Chapter Twenty-Five: Blackmail

Alex's Pov

As I entered my office the following Friday, I noticed a package sitting on my desk. Curiously, I tore into it. A small dvd and some photo's fell out. I picked up one of the pictures, and felt sick to my stomach. It was a photo of Maggie and I, when we were together.

I picked the next three photo's up with trembling hands, they were very intimate, very racy pictures. I glanced down at the dvd, and turned it over. 'Play Me' was written in black ink across the front, I turned the pictures face down, and walked over to my office door closing it, and locking it.

I slipped the DVD into my computer, making sure I had turned the volume down. That feeling of disgust was growing stronger, as Maggie's face appeared on the camera. It was a video of us 'Together', she was smiling sweetly into the camera. By the look on my face I had no idea she was even recording us, which was completely true, I never even knew she'd done this.

When the sexual scene was finished, her face once again popped up on the screen. She was wearing a sultry black and pink outfit, which was a huge contrast to the cold smile displayed on her face. " Alex, I hope your sweet Annie never has to see this tape. It would be a shame right? I mean, after all this was filmed after you met her." I could feel my face paling, I knew what she was trying to do.

She was trying to break, Annie and I up by telling a bunch of lies. Only with this tape, and the pictures it could easily look deceiving. I continued to listen to the rest of the DVD intently. " So here's what I want you to do, to keep her from finding out. I want you to meet me at my apartment tonight at eight, if your one minute late a copy of this DVD, and the same pictures that are laying on your desk will be dropped on her doorstep."

She blew a kiss into the camera, " Tata, lover." The dvd cut off, but I still couldn't get that cold smile out of my mind. I could feel the migrane starting at my temples, and slowly make it's way across my forehead. If Annie saw this video, or even the pictures she might not ever forgive me.

Of course if I went to Maggie's apartment just out of the blue, and she found out she might not forgive me for that either. I was being blackmailed by my ex, I slammed my fist down hard on my desk. It took a lot to get me angry, but right now I was so mad I was shaking.

I did the only thing I knew to do in that moment, I got down on my hands and knees and prayed! " Lord please forgive me for the things I've done in the past, I want to be a better man now. I love Annie, and the way she serves you Lord makes me want that same relationship with you.

I need you now more than ever, I had no idea any of that was going on when maggie and I were together. Please open her eyes and make her see that I'm no longer that man God, and I ask you to shed some light on what I need to do Lord. Please give me the strength and courage to be the man you want and need me to be.

I thank you and I praise you Lord, in Jesus name Amen.'' I wiped the tears from my face, and stood up. My heart was telling me to go tell Maggie what a changed man looks like, but my mind was screaming ' Are you insane, what if Annie finds out?' I had to go with my heart though, because I knew that's where the Lord dwelled, and that's what I felt he was telling me.

Annie's POV

I sat in the booth at my favorite diner, typing away furiously on a report that was due by tomorrow. I heard the bell tinkle, as someone new came in, but paid it no mind. This diner was like a ' Mom and Pop's' kind of place, it was always busy with locals because they felt at home.

I continued typing away, not bothering to glance up. I heard the sound of footsteps approaching the booth that I was in, and when someone sat down I finally looked up and angrily started to ask " Can I hel..." My voice cut off in surprise, I stared into the very familiar blue eyes that had once not to long ago caused me deep pain.
