Alex's POV
I glanced at the clock, seven-thirty. I sighed running from my last patients room, to my office. I had less than thirty minutes to get to Maggie's apartment, if I didn't want those pictures getting to Annie. I grabbed my brief case, and suit jacket from my desk. I was in such a rush, that I practically knocked my receptionist down.
I yelled my apologies over my shoulder, and ran all the way to my car. Maggie was a good twenty minutes from the hospital, and if traffic was bad, then I would be screwed. I pulled out of my parking spot hastily, and hit the road, heading south.
My cell phone started ringing the familiar tune for when Annie calls, and I hit the ignore button. I felt a pang of guilt for not answering, but the last thing I needed at the moment was to be grilled about where I was. I threw the phone in my passenger side seat, and loosened the neck tie that felt like it was chocking me to death.
My phone lit up with a new voice mail, I really should just call her back I thought to myself. I was coming up on Maggie's exit, and all rational thoughts left my brain. I was breaking the speed limit by about twenty miles an hour over, and starting to sweat.
I gripped the steering wheel tightly, feeling my jaw clench in anger. " Lord please take this anger away from me, help me please." I prayed the same prayer, that I'd been praying silently all day at work. I pulled up to her apartment door with one minute to spare.
I quickly got out, racing up the stairs, and punched in the numbers for her apartment. She didn't even ask who it was.I heard the buzzer, and the door clicked open. I ran all the way up to her apartment door, which was left cracked. I could hear soft music floating from the doorway, and it looked very dim inside.
I pushed open the door cautiously, my eyes scanning the room. She sat in a provocative position, on her bed smiling at me. I stood in the doorway trying to catch my breath. " Tsk, tsk, Alex." She said, taking a sip from her champagne flute.
" Your one minute late." Her cold smile was planted firmly in place, I sighed furiously. She sat her champagne down, and traced a finger along her half exposed breasts. She was wearing the same racy bodice, that was on the DVD. I closed my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose.
" What do you want from me Maggie? I made it here as fast as I could." She rose from her perch, and sauntered my way. She slipped her hand between my shirt collar, and neck. I felt my body stiffen upon her touch, she smiled wickedly at me. trailing her hand, up and down my neck line seductively.
" My, my Alex why so tense? Afraid I really had someone there to give your precious Annie a package?" I swallowed hard, and shook my head. She let out a small sensual moan, and licked her dark red lips in an obvious way.
" I don't know Maggie, I don't even know who you are anymore. You've become a monster," I saw a flash of hurt cross her eyes, but I didn't stop. " Or maybe you were always like this, and just never let me see your true colors."
She gave a cold laugh, and leaned in closer. I could smell the champagne on her breath, and wanted to vomit. " I told you Alex, from the beginning that I wanted someone I could settle down with. And you used me! You used me for sex,and after a straight month of you going into work and coming back here for a nightly release you dump me!
As if I was nothing but the dirt under your feet! But I loved you Alex, I still do. Only now I find out that the same day you broke up with me via a text message, you met little Miss Annie! What was it about her Alex? Love at first sight?" She asked me sounding disgusted.
