Alex's POV
" Daddy, daddy." Four small arms reached for me at the same time. One set coming from a little girl with long dark hair the color of Annie's, and the same green eyes as her daddy. The other set came from a little boy that was the same height and same age as his sister, but looked completely different.
He had blond locks like me, and big blue eyes just like his mama. Yes the were twins, no they were not identical. But they were the best kids ever, and they came from one of the sweetest loving women I had ever known. Annie.
" Hey." I said chuckling, scooping the two small three year old's up, showering them with kisses. This sent them into a hysterical laughing fit, which in turn melted my heart. It was so hard for me to still believe that in five years.
Annie had not only had a set of twins, but had also had a bone marrow transplant. And tonight was the four year anniversary for that, meaning in one more year we would be celebrating her being cured for good.
" Where's mommy?" I ask setting my two beautiful rugrats back down gently. They both grinned up at me, and took off for the stairs. Half walking and half climbing they clambered up towards our bedroom. I followed them into our bedroom, my breath caught when I saw her.
A very pregnant Annie stood at the mirror putting her earrings in, she turned to me and smiled serenely. " Hey, you." She said, waddling over to me. She was the most adorable pregnant person I had ever laid eyes on.
" You look stunning." I said, kissing her lips gently. She blushed deeply, and it made her already pregnant glow even brighter.
" Thank you." She gazed down at her navy blue sleeveless dress, it fell right at the knee.
" Okay little munchkins, get out and let daddy get dressed." I said shooing them to their rooms. They giggled and, stalked off down the hall.
" We could always just call it a night, and see if my parents could keep the kids for some alone time." She said rubbing her hand down my chest, smiling at me seductively. I groaned, giving her a huge grin.
" You know what that does to me." I said huskily, she giggled softly.
" Uh-huh."
" And you also know that I'm stubborn, and we need this. So I'm going to get in the shower, and get ready. Besides I've got a surprise for you tonight." She gave me a puzzled look, " Nope, you won't get it out of me." I said shaking my head, and heading to the bathroom.
The love I had for Annie, was still to this day so amazing. It really mystified me, that we were still so close. I mean I had, had friends that had gotten married and two years later called it quits, because they were bored with each other.
That however, was not me and Annie. We had managed to still keep the romance alive, while juggling jobs, and twins. It was also just an awesome blessing that after all the chemo she'd been through, we were able to have any children at all! Much less healthy twins, and a third baby on the way.
I finished my shower smiling to myself, Annie was due to deliver in two weeks. Which really meant she could go at anytime, but tonight she was going to get to see two very special people, that she had missed for the last year, and a few others that we both got to see all the time.
Yes this was a family event, not only to share Annie good fortune of health, but to welcome our soon to be baby number three into the world. I couldn't wait to see her face light up, that's what would make all the planning that I had put into this party worth it.
