Chapter Five: Breathless

This chapter will go back and forth as usual :P So I know there are quite a few mistakes, the only feedback I want to know is what you all think of the story, good, bad, awesome :D Plz send some ppl to vote/comment/fan

Annie's POV

Agony, that was really the only word to describe how I felt after waking up, call me a baby but this was truly the first surgery I had ever had. Even if it was considered minor my body didn't seem to think so, the nurse named Lisa came into view. 

"Feeling alright sweetie?"  I tried to give her a smile, but knew I was failing miserably.

 " Is it normal to hurt this bad?" I asked my voice sounding hoarse, my throat felt raw and it hurt to swallow. My hip felt like a knife was going in and out of it, grinding on the bone.

" Afraid so dear, Dr. Watkins will be in shortly to check on you. If you have any questions it would be best to ask him k?" I nodded my head slightly.

In my head I prayed the same silent prayer that I had all morning, ' Please Lord guide my way, keep me strong no matter what the news is I know you have a reason for everything.' Just as I finished my prayer Dr. Watkins breezed into my room. I didn't know if it was my imagination playing tricks on me or what, but he seemed to look even more dashing now than he had this morning.

" How are you feeling?" I gave him my 'really' look and he actually laughed! It sounded like music to my ears even if I was in pain, that much I couldn't deny.

 "So I'm going to take that as not very good, I will be prescribing you something for the pain. Nurse Lisa will give it to you and then you will be able to go back to your room, sound good to you?" I nodded my head managing to give him a small smile, I couldn't stop the pounding in my heart when he returned it. 

"Dr. Watkins, when will my test results be back?" His brow furrowed giving his face a boyish look, how I wanted to just touch his handsome face. I mentally kicked myself for having these thoughts. 

" Probably in a day or so, I told the guys in the lab to put a rush on it."

" Thanks, so will I be staying here until then or is there any chance in me getting to go home today?" He gave me a lazy smile and leaned down close enough for me to get a whiff of his aftershave.

" If I didn't know any better I would think you didn't want me around Miss. Miller."

I could feel the blush creeping into my cheeks, he had no idea just how much I wanted him around. Or what his delicious smell was doing to me, " I just really don't like hospitals." I managed to say breathlessly.

A cocky grin spread across his face, " so it's not me then." He said this as more of a statement than question so I just gave him a shy smile.

" Well I'm only keeping you here one more night, unless you start to run a fever or have any serious complications OK?" I gave him a curt nod, and he left promising to come back later to check on me.

Alex's POV

I quickly left the recovery area, and gave Lisa, Annie's nurse pain medicine instructions. My phone started vibrating in my pocket I looked at the picture ugh really Maggie's face flashed on the screen, and I was so tempted to send it to voice mail, but I really needed to make sure she knew it was over.

" What do you want Maggie?" I asked, while making my way outside the hospital.

" Alex love is everything alright?" I could hear the hurt in her voice, but really she insulted the profession that I chose to go into!
