Annie's POV
I woke up to a heavenly smell, it was coming from the direction of the kitchen. I rose fully from my sleeping slumber, and sniffed the air hungrily. I groggily made my way into the kitchen to see Alex mixing something furiously in a bowl.
I watched his muscular arms, it was actually quite sexy to see a man in the kitchen. " Mmmm... something smells good!" I said walking behind him, and wrapping my arms around his broad back. He turned and gave me a warm smile, before frowning slightly.
" What are you doing up?" I shrugged, trotting over to the fridge. I got the orange juice out, and poured myself a glass. He went back to cooking, " I wanted to surprise you with breakfast in bed." He added in a little disappointed voice.
" Really, well in that case... I'll just go back to bed." I said strolling slowly towards the bed room door. Becca and Luke had already left for the day, so it was just the two of us. My stomach turned in exitment, I really loved Alex so much. There were things that I wanted to do with him, than I had with any other man.
But then there was always this underlying guilt that would consume me anytime I thought of him sexually. My hormones were crazy as it was with all the chemo I had been given, and at first I chalked my sexual lust for him up to that, but now I wasn't so sure that was it anymore.
I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, I was so nervous today for some reason. On the surface I knew why, but I was with everything in me trying to deny it. I turned the T.V. on some random music channel, not really paying any attention to it though.
I heard Alex shuffling in the kitchen, before he entered the room. He was carrying a tray full of all kinds of different goodies, " Wow," I said looking at everything. There was a stack of chocolate chip pancakes, some blueberry muffins, fresh fruit consisting of; grapes, strawberries, orange slices, pieces of banana, and mango. Two small bowls of yogurt sat beside the huge stack of pancakes, followed by orange juice, and coffee.
He grinned, and started dishing out everything. " I had no idea you could cook." I said giving him a wide eyed surprised look. He shrugged as if it were no big deal.
" I can only when and if I'm in the mood, which isn't often." He said sighing with a wistful look in his eyes. I wondered if Alex had missed his second calling, when I took a bite of one of his pancakes. The chocolate kind of gave it this explosion that melted in my mouth, leaving it watering for more.
I tore into it like someone who hadn't eaten in a year, Alex laughed around his mouthful of fruit. " I've never met anyone who moans as much as you do, when they eat!" I looked at him, swallowing the big bite I had just taken.
I grinned sheepishly at him, " I can remember doing that ever since I was a little girl, my brother use to tell me to get a room every time we sat down to the dinner table." I could feel my cheeks burning red under his intense stare.
" Well I enjoy it, let's me know I'm doing something right." He smiled softly at me, and I couldn't help but feel the change in his body launguage. He was no longer the teasing, cocky Alex, that had dated every girl under the sun. He was maturing into a man, that could love and be loved.
