Annie's POV

The light was blinding, I had no idea as to where I was I did know I was having a terrible time opening my eyes and that my body was sore. "Where am I?" I heard myself mumble aloud, I felt a soft hand grab mine and squeeze it, "Annie.... Oh thank God your awake, I was so scared!"

Becca was sobbing at my side, I finally was able to open my eyes and focused on her sad face I was so confused. I looked from her hand to mine, it had an IV coming from it I frowned and looked back to her. "Why am I in the hospital?"

My question must have sounded like a dumb one cause she gave me a 'duh don't you remember' look, "Annie you fainted, and when you didn't respond to the EMT's, they brought you here!" I nodded slowly as it all came back to me, the plates crashing, Becca's shrill scream, the ambulance ride.

" So what is wrong with me?" She looked at me skeptically wiping her eyes with her sleeve, " Well they aren't really sure, they said something about you white and red blood counts not looking right and then they hooked you up to the IV."

I sighed and let my head fall back onto the pillow, just as a nurse walked through the door she was rolling a blood pressure monitor behind her. She turned to me giving me a warm smile, before saying.

" My name is Jo Ann, I am your nurse for the night sweetie if there is anything you need please let me know." I gave her a small smile as she slipped the blood pressure cuff on me and proceeded to take my vitals.

" Could you please tell me why I am in here?" She had a funny look on her face like she would rather not say," well so far all we can tell is that your red and white cells don't really look like they should we've called in a specialist, but he is coming from Mercy Hospital in Atlanta and won't be in till tomorrow."

My eyes widened I was at Ridgedale Hospital which was in a small town pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Mercy Hospital was a complete town away as a matter of fact it was one of the biggest and best hospitals in all of Georgia.

She gave me a reassuring smile, when she saw the look of shock on my face, " now I'm sure it's nothing to worry about really. Dr. Grant just feels more comfortable getting a second opinion," I nodded my head in silence and looked at Becca.

She had a very worried look on her face, after Jo Ann walked out promising to return in an hour I looked back over to where Becca sat by my bedside. I didn't know what to do now, I felt helpless. Becca gave my hand a soft squeeze.

" Maybe we should call your brother, and folks?" She asked not really sure what to do. I nodded sadly I was almost positive it was something bad if they were calling a specialist in. Becca got my purse and handed it to me, the silent tears sprung to my eyes. What was I suppose to tell them?

I prayed for the Lord to guide my words, this by far had to be the worst day of my life! First I catch my boyfriend of three long years with a girl that I truly despised, and now I was awaiting to hear from a specialist because they had no idea what was wrong with me.

I flipped open my cell and quickly dialed my parents number. My mom picked up after the second ring " Annie, dear are you alright? Your brother told us about what happened with Randy." She said in a rush, I sighed and said quietly.

" Mom I didn't call to talk about Randy, I called because I'm in the hospital." I tried keeping my voice flat, so as not to let her hear how scared I really was. I didn't want her to panic, my mom was usually a calm person just not when it came to her children.
