Annie's POV

I sat in the waiting room glancing around nervously, there was about five other people waiting to be seen, two women and three young men. I looked blindly at my nails, I didn't want to appear nervous but knew I was failing miserably. The closest woman looked at me curiously, she didn't have any hair and couldn't have been much older than me if she was at all.

" Is this your first time here?" She asked in a soft voice.

" Is it that obvious?" I asked sheepishly, she laughed as softly as she spoke.

" Well the ones that come regularly are use to it, you just seem kind of nervous." She moved over to sit beside me. " My name is Sarah Winchester, I'm twenty-one and have stage two breast cancer. So what's is your story?" She asked boldly.

I smiled I had only just met Sarah and I could already tell that I liked her, " My name's Annie Miller, I'm twenty-two, and as for what exactly I have I'm not entirely sure. I just know it's some kind of Leukemia." I finished sighing.

" Ms. Winchester?" The nurse called.

" Well that's me, I wish you the best of luck Annie! You will be in my prayers," She slipped a piece of paper in my hand. " And here's my number just in case you ever want, or need to talk feel free to call me." She gave me a warm smile and hurried after the nurse.

I couldn't help the smile that came to my face, Sarah was just what I needed today. " Annie Miller?" I looked up to see a different nurse standing in the doorway, she gave me a wide smile and held the door open for me.

I followed her down the hall, " My name is Teresa I am Dr. Watkin's main nurse, so if you ever need to call just ask for me dear." She led me into an examining room and pulled out a blood pressure cuff, while taking my vitals she asked several questions.

" Ok any bleeding, bruising, swelling of the face, hands, or feet?" I shook my head no and she continued. " Any pain at the aspiration site since you've been home?" Again I shook my head no. "Well your vitals are great, and you have no fever. The Dr. will be in to see you in a few minutes, can I get you anything?"

" No thank you, I'm fine." She gave me another warm smile, before turning to go out the door.

" Now if you need anything sweetie, just ask for me Teresa!" I nodded my head and returned her smile, as she shut the door. I looked around the room, it looked like any other examining room in a Dr's office. My nerves were growing stronger by the minute, on one hand I couldn't wait to see Alex and on the other I really was scared of what he was going to say.

I had ask him last night before he left if he knew anything, he refused to say because he felt it was unprofessional even if he was my Dr. I smiled knowing it was going to be hard for him to balance dating a patient, and had even questioned if it were ethical.

I also knew if this was where God wanted us, then this was where we would be. So I was just leaving it in his hands, it wasn't as if we were in a very serious relationship yet anyway. I was once again so lost in my crazy thoughts that I had failed to hear anyone knocking on the door.

Alex just stood in the doorway giving me a lazy smile, I could feel myself blush as I gave him a tentative smile. " Do you always have to act like a creepy stalker?" I asked laughing, he smiled and closed the door behind him.

" Well only if you want me to," He said huskily, making his way over to hug me. I inhaled his masculine scent, and it was enough to calm my nerves, " Of course it doesn't hurt when the person your stalking is a space cadet." He said teasing me.
