"Garroth."

He gulped.  "Yes father." He said more like a statement than a question.

"So you went on a trip for future lord business, right?" Garte asked, tapping his fingers against each other.

"That is correct."

"I had your dear little brother check on you. He said you weren't to be found in Scaleswind. Where did you really go?"

Oh no.

"I also had to meet up with the lord of Meteli-"

"Please don't lie to me son, you know what happened the last time you lied to me."

The last time Garroth lied to his father was ten years ago. He had been thrown out of the palace, only eight years old, it was winter, and cold.

Very cold.

Poor prince Garroth had to fend for himself. People were directed to not give him shelter, food or water.  Eventually He had gotten sick from drinking contaminated water and he got a lack of food.

"I went to Phoenix Drop."

"Why is that, my son?" Garte's voice echoing through the throne room.

"To check in with Danté Anders, the person in control of Phoenix Drop to see if he was going to go into taking lordship."

"You have lied to me again, my son. But no matter. I feel generous and I will make you a deal."

Garroth gulped, nervousness crawling up him everywhere. Though, he didn't let it show.

He couldn't know, could he?

He cleared his head of the thought. There was no way that he could have known.

"I know for a fact, that you have a secret courtship, relationship, or whatever you and Aphmau Phoenix are." He paused and smirked. "I'm going to make you a deal."

Garroth didn't respond.

"The lordship."

His eyes finally met Garte's. What could he possibly mean by that?

"If you give me Aphmau Phoenix within one years time, I will give the lordship to Zane."

"Do you think you could possibly give Vylad-"

"Vylad is not my son. Therefore he does not get the lordship. I'll let him live within the palace walls. That's all he'll ever get from me."

Garroth huffed.

He did said he would do anything to get out of it.

Was he willing to sacrifice her? Maybe he was. Maybe he would be able to tell her when the time came.

Maybe they could overthrow his father once and for all.  It was so tempting, it was as if everything he was doing was falling into Garte's hands.  He lost control of himself for a moment before answering.

"Deal. One year from today, you will get Aphmau Phoenix."

Garte nodded. "Okay. I'm depending on you. You're dismissed."

Garroth let out a relieved sigh.  "How did I get myself into so much trouble?"

"ZANE!" Garroth shouted in the chamber.

"What do you want, Garroth." Zane groaned.

"So, I guess you've become dads little servant huh? You do his dirty work for him?" Garroth was upset, he deserved his own privacy.

"Royalty doesn't mess with.. Whatever that so called girlfriend is." He replied with a disgusted tone.

Garroth was so close to yelling, she is royalty too. But that was a secret that he knew damn well that he was supposed to keep.

"You're so demented in the mind."

"I guess thats one thing me and dad have in common.  No wonder we get along so well." Zane snapped back sassily.

I scoffed. "You're sick."

"It's better than being lovesick." He chuckled at Garroth as if he were the idiot.

"I can't believe dad is willing to give the throne to you."

Zane just laughed in response.

Garroth walked out of the room, upset about the entire situation. He would risk anything to get out of being an heir.

But he didn't want to give up her.

"Everything is going to be fine." He said to himself. "I'll just tell her and we'll figure out a way to do it."

He continued to talk to himself. "But when?" Then he thought about it.

Garroth just agreed with himself that he would tell her when the time was right.

Even if he didn't know when that time would be.

•••

Garroth decided to go to the guild.

He had nothing else better to do. Plus, maybe he would get to see Aphmau. Though, it only has been a couple days since they last saw each other.

He strolled through the entrance like t was nothing. We went over to the chambers.

Garroth spotted Amber as she waved to him. "Hey, it's you!"

"It's me."

"Aphmau!"

She walked over, and it seems as if it's the first time her and Garroth met again. Her eyes brightened, and a smile tugged to her lips.

"Hey Ro'meave."

He nodded. "Phoenix."

She walked over to him as Garroth gently wrapped his arms around her waist.

"It's only been a couple days-"

"I had a day off."

"Aph, take it to your room, ugh." Amber smirked, making a gagging noise after.

She interlaced her hand with his, leading him toward her room.

The door shut behind them as she smiled. "I didn't expect to see you so soon."

Garroth pecked her lips. "I know."

"Well, I don't have anything planned, and there's not much here for us to do-"

"Babe, there's plenty of things we can do here-"

Aphmau started to turn pink. She hit Garroth on the shoulder. "Garroth! No! At least not here!" She whisper shouted.

"Well, I guess we're just going to have to work with this for now."

"Wha-"

He placed his lips onto hers, pulling her closer to him. They kissed again, she found her hands running through his sandy locks.

Garroth gently pushed her back against the wall, allowing her to jump up without any trouble.

Ad then they kissed again. Many times.

"I swear, you're so addicting."

He chuckled. "I was just going to say the same thing about you." Then their lips crashed, as if all of their problems faded away.
