Peggy's POV.

It had been about 2 weeks since Sargent Barnes's death. Steve and the Howling Commandos came back to the U.S. with them to have Barnes's funeral. Peggy was in a car with Steve on their way to his funeral. Steve hadn't talked he whole ride. She smiled sadly and set her hand on his. He looked up at her with eyes full of pain and sorrow. He then looked back down.

When they arrived at the cemetery all the military people sat on the right while Barnes's family sat on the left. Steve walked over to Bucky's mom and hugged her. She was in tears and wearing all black. Peggy could imagine how Bucky's mother must have felt getting he news. She knew exactly how she felt. Peggy had gone through it herself once.

******************flashback*****************
Peggy was upstairs in her bedroom looking in her mirror. She was wearing her new wedding dress. She was going to be marrying Fred Wells. She was halfheartedly excited. She didn't know why. It could have been because of what Michael had down at her engagement party, or it could have been what he had said. No it wasn't. She didn't want adventure anymore. She wanted stability. Didn't she?

Her Mother came over to her from across the room with a necklace. "Her darling. Put this on." Her mother clipped the necklace around Peggy's neck. "There you go. You look lovely my dear. Your father would be so proud." She said.

She stroked Peggy's vail and began to cry
