"Magnifique!"Bella shouted and hung up the phone.She set it down on the table."Nina will be here soon,"she announced to the boys.Terrence had exited the restaurant a while ago,leaving Bella with Joshua and Emiko.
Joshua scoffed at Bella's announcement.Emiko looked pained.
"I'm going to get us drinks,"he said and walked away from the table.
"What's wrong with him?"Bella asked.
"Ask your friend,"Joshua replied and folded his arms.His muscles bulged beneath his sweater. Bella noticed he was wearing a white V-necked sweatshirt,just like the last time.
"Do you have a problem with Nina?"she questioned.
"No,"he answered tautly.
She leaned forward,and her cleavage was exposed for she was wearing an open necked sleeveless top.
"Do you have a problem with me?"
She watched his face as his lids lowered slowly,his eyes moving to look at her body and then back to her face.She grinned at him when she saw his eyes.
They were filled with annoyance and desire at the same time.He was obviously at war with himself.
His eyebrows drew closer.
"What are you frowning at me for,cheri?"she asked,smiling.
"I'll ask the questions here,Bella,"he said in a sharp tone.
"Go right ahead,"she replied,and set her elbow on the table.She leaned on it,enhancing her cleavage.
Joshua looked at her,and gave a wry laugh that showed that he was both amused and annoyed.
"Can you be well behaved for once,Bella,and sit up straight?"he said to her.
She gave a mock gasp."Oh my,I'm sorry,dear Joshy, did I make you uncomfortable in any way?"She laughed loudly."I don't care if you think I'm mannerless and unruly,bebe."
"Actually, I think you're worse than that,"he told her."You're a temptress,Isabella.I can see that in the way you walk,in the way you talk..even in the way you look at me."He smiled."It won't work on me,girl."
Bella leaned back and watched him for a few seconds.Then she put her feet on the table and swung it from side to side.Joshua's smile vanished and his eyes flashed in annoyance.
"Again with this?"
She was still staring at him.They sat there in silence for a long moment.
"So I'm a temptress,huh?In other words,I'm a whore who deliberately makes a man want to have sex with her. And yet you were the one who couldn't keep your tongue out of my mouth and your hands off me when you came unannounced to my house."She eyed him in disgust."You hypocrite."
"Bella-"
"I might act like a bitch,Joshua," she began, "but that's just the part of my character that I show to people I feel deserve it.My public persona is very different from my real character,tu bastardo." She stared at him right in the eye."I have never come onto a man,in my life.I despise men.Wanna know why?"
"Bella-"
"I lost my virginity through rape.And it was done by the man I adored the most.My father."
She stood up and walked out of the restaurant,leaving Joshua with a deep feeling of regret and penitence.
