Chapter 44

"That's enough,Bear.Put her down.Now."

Waves of shock hit Bella had when she heard the voice.Her heart stopped for a split second.

Could it be-?

"Ugh," she groaned as she hit the floor with a loud thud.She clutched her sides which had been hit hard and looked up to glare at Bear who had a sneer on her face.

Bear bent to her face level and stared straight into Bella's eyes.Bella stared back without fear,her chest heaving with every rage filled breath she took.
Bear narrowed her eyes to slits as she stared Bella.
Bella glared back unflinchingly.
Suddenly,Bear's lips curved upwards,and Bella was surprised to see a bright genuine smile split her face.

"I've missed you, firestarter.You still never back down,do you?No matter who's challenging you.Gotta love that kinda fearlessness. Here," she stretched out her palm,"let me help you up."

"I don't fucking need your help," Bella snapped at her.

Bear smiled at her companions. "She hasn't changed."

They grinned back and dropped their weapons.Soon,Bella was surrounded in a jumble of arms and limbs.She was about to yell but stopped short when she realized that they were...hugging her.

She looked confused.
"What?"

Bear bopped her in the head,hard.

"Ow!" Bella grumbled.

"We were messing with you,Bels," Cornrows said, pulling her to her feet.

She still looked confused.

"There's someone who wants to meet you," Bear said.

"Hello,Isabella," the voice came again.

She turned towards it,and gasped audibly.
"Cade?"

Standing in front of her,dressed in a black suit and tie,without a hair out of place,looking as sophisticated as she looked ragged,stood Cade Johnson.

His electric blue eyes danced in amusement as he took in Bella.

They stood there in silence,staring at each other,until he strode up to her,took her into his arms and he gripped her with all of his might.

"Where the hell have you been, Bella?"he asked.

Bella stood there frozen.His reaction was the last thing she'd expected.She expected to be lain on floor already,with a pool of blood circling her head.

Why on earth was he hugging her after all that happened all those years ago?
